prob like 5 g's.

i'm looking for $500 tops.

Trust me on this.

Buy a used Omega Seamaster (the blue bezel & blue face or Black bezel with black face)

This is a $4000 watch that you can pick up BOXED and with CERTIFICATES on ebay for around $600 and only 5-10 years old.

Beautiful watches that NEVER go out of style and look far less cheesy than a rolex.

I have a dress watch but I use a common Casio most of the time. I swim in the ocean with it. I have dropped it on concrete and even threw it to a friend who didn't catch it. It works perfect. I used Casio's to wake me up for work for over 20 years. I time my runs and weight workouts with it. I use the count down alarm for 3 minute rounds when hitting the heavy bag. At night it has a light to see it.

I like to get a used quality watch on Ebay but it just can't be trusted with all the Chinese counterfeits. The Chinese is really flooding the market with them. Depending on the grade of counterfeit they have authentic boxes and paper work. Only a jeweler could tell but I would never want to own a fake.

Just buy a g-shock, people notice them far more than expensive dress watches that all look the same, and lets face it you wear the watch because you want people to notice.

Wisdom here. All the dress watches look the same. You can drop a pretty penny on a Movado, but then you have Fossil and Armitron making watches that look almost exactly alike.

And unless you're going to a watch critics convention -- nobody is going to pay any attention.

The upside to the G-Shock is that it works anywhere (formal, the garage, the gym), you never have to take it off, and it does draw a lot of attention.
The answer is "yes".

Which is better; ill, fresh, dope, jive, or off the hook? I always get confused.

Watches will not run a very long time on me, they always go dead even with a battery replacement. My dad gave me some as a kid they lasted only a month or so. I have read up on them that were certain people have an electric charge in their body or something to the effect that burns them out. I gave up on them.

So, you're sitting in a board of directors meeting and you want a Fossil or Armitron watch falling out of the sleeve of your K-Mart suit?

If you can push your budget up a little and want to actually get a luxury Swiss watch you can go for a Longines, this one is offered for a great price if you ask me!  I have a Longines, but different style, beautiful watches!

$805

I submit that there is a difference between a gentleman who regularly sits on a board of directors meeting and a young Getbigger who simply wants an attention getting watch. If the OP sits on the Apple B.O.D. and can afford a Ulysees Nardin, then more power to him.

The answer is "yes".

EDIT:  Oh dude - you're actually right on this.  Prices have gone up on the new models!  Few years back, they were not that drastic - but not far off!

Omega Semaster's are not $4,000 new... the automatic models may reach $3,000 but you can always find good deals on them,  remember there is also a quartz version of this watch which is a few hundred dollars cheaper than the Automatic.

But yes... BEAUTIFUL watch!
