Ross Enamait anyone? I combined one of his cardio routines to my LISS/weight programs and it immediately busted my plateau and got me in my best condition.

After reading this thread I think I'll reacquaint myself to his methods but this time for strength.

Anyone have experience with his stuff?

Yeah, I quit lifting a couple years ago.

I feel a lot better. My body feels less worn down, no more constant soreness from workouts. I just wake up and my muscles are all fresh and ready to do real work.

Also I look almost the same. I lost some density, but my mass is the same and I'm just as lean.

After you max out with lifting after about 5 years, you can just quit. Beyond that its basically just a masturbatory ritual.

true but to get sronger u have to lifts

"Muscles don't mean shit"- Freddie Roach

When I heard that I decided to ditch bodybuilding and do body weight exercises just to see what would happen...

2 months later I'm leaner, faster, & much better cardio conditioned.

Not shitting on bodybuilding, but I my body feels healthy now.

Anyone else make this transition?

if muscle don;'t mean shit why there are weight classes in boxing

I did for a while now, I only do bodyweight stuff for my upper body, the basic chin ups, pull ups, dips, push ups, etc. I mainly do bodyweight stuff for legs too, but include some weighted work like db lunges or squats at least once a month.
To be honest I also look better than when I was training with weights, although it maybe simply because I stopped permabulking, lol.
One thing is for sure, when I was weight training I had a lot of nagging pains and small injuries all the time, tendonitis on my elbow, back pain, etc. and they all disappeared once I made the transition to bodyweight training, specially the tendonitis, I had it for a whole year and it wouldn't go away, until I stopped lifting weights and boom a few weeks later its gone.

more and more I am getting into cycling, and a lot of cyclists have sworn off running since they consider riding a bike a more intense form of cardio.

Same here, I had tendinitis in my left shoulder and my elbows were fucked.

I was always very conscience of my form and never went too heavy either, but still it was always some nagging injury or soreness.  Also, my muscles were always tight, even with stretching.

Now there's no injuries and my joints feel rejuvenated.

I'm no fighter, but I've always loved to hit the bags and shadow box.  I could barely throw any left handed punches at one point because of the tendinitis in my left shoulder.

I think weight training is good, but anyone who has similar nagging injuries, despite doing everything right in the weight room, should consider the transition because it might help.

If you're natural I don't think you'll lose much muscle.

From what I understand he doesn't in a traditional sense.  He may use some light weights in his S&C, but he doesn't do a bodybuilding type workout.

After 5 years of heavy training I don't think you really need to go too insane in the gym. Once your have some solid skeletal muscle built up, you just need to stimulate the muscle in the gym. I don't get as sore and I don't train with nearly as heavy weights. My workouts are mostly cardio and basically a glorified pump workout. Doing lots of skipping too. Used to box for a few years in high school and got super good with the skipping. Really blows the calves up nicely. 8)

The best workouts I ever had were after a 4 month break, went back to the gym and was lifting better and stronger, felt energized then three weeks into it I got nailed real bad with a flu that fucked it all up.  I wonder if my immune system was still on break.

As in I know a lot of people from Wild Card. That was my main Boxing Gym. I always took my people there to spar real boxers. MMA people can get it twisted, and think that because they do well with boxing in mma, that they will do well in a ring with pure boxers. Big wake up call. To get good, you need to go and train with the best in every area.
