Yes electric sites as in Aimpoint or Eotech. The battery in the Aimpoint can last over a year and that's what I use on my carbine. The Eotech has a much shorter battery life.

I'm a fan of the EOTech.   I have one on my M4.

The AK47 is best for the "spray and pray" method.  Haji shit.  It's fitting that a monkey is holding one in the video.

The M16 on the other had is better if you actually want to hit something.  I prefer the M16A2 myself on 3 round burst.

Trijicon ACOG is a nice do-it-all sight for M4 carbines and M16A3 and A4.

I have never used a Trijicon. Is that the one that doesn't use a battery and uses a glowing radio active aiming point?

I have no idea what you are talking about.  I assume that is a video game reference but I am a grown man so I'm not sure.

I was debating whether to get the EoTech or the Aimpoint. In the end it's a toss up but I'm happy with the choice I made with the Aimpoint. My son is really amazing using the Aimpoint on my Beretta Storm. Instantly getting on target with accuracy.

The one that I am familiar with gives you black crosshairs during the day and a glowing reticle at night.

I agree.  I really prefer to use my M16A2 clone for most of my shooting.  If my life was on the line in some kind of a close quarters environment I would grab the M4 with the EOTech.  Fast target acquisition is huge in that situation.

Haven't shot an M-16 since '08...M-4 is where it's at. I keep the butt stalk at either the third or second farthest notch out. Reason (A)It allows me to perform duties without being inhibited (B)If an insurgent is spotted or begins firing where I'm located, it'll definitely be close quarter conflict. 8)

The M4 is a fine weapon.  May you hit every target you engage.

Sometimes I get shit for my oldschool A2.  People say it's too heavy.  I tell them to grow stronger.

I have an Aimpoint and the battery lasts a LOT longer than a year , you can leave it on 24/7 and it will last more like 3 years

Humped a M4, but if I had to grab one of my rifles for an extended time, I would probably grab my iron sighted 74 conversion to a 105. The 5.45 round is pleasant to shoot all day, you can still get 1080 round "spam cans" for less than $200 and the AK action is hard to beat for reliability.

For casual shooting, the m16 plaform is nice. Minor nit to some of the comments, I wouldn't really take the 7.62x51 out to more than 600m. The standard round goes trans sonic about there and the accuracy goes down. For out to about 1500m the .338 Lapua in a bolt gun is good (if you have the glass to see ANYTHING at that distance). Beyond that, call in some arty or an air strike.

I stand corrected on the .308 trans sonic point. It can run out to 1000m occasionally. That said, if you have a 10+ mil holdover and you are counting it out as feet above target. You need a different round.
