Browns sound sweet on him.   Tebow in cleveland! LOL...

The Browns took long looks at Geno Smith, EJ Manuel and others before they passed on selecting a quarterback in the NFL Draft.

How strong is their interest in signing the QB who beat Pittsburgh in the Steelers’ last playoff game?

Tim Tebow is there for the taking, if he is interested, and if the Browns would accept the tidal wave of publicity that would come with him.

For now, the Browns are in spring practice with Brandon Weeden as the apparent No. 1, veteran Jason Campbell pushing him, and young Thad Lewis fighting to stay on the roster.

An inquiry to Browns general manager Michael Lombardi did not receive an immediate response.

Lombardi, however, was intrigued when Tebow was available in the 2010 draft.

In a pre-draft radio interview, Lombardi (then the lead analyst for National Football Post), said:

“The intangibles are so strong with Tebow in terms of work ethic and what he’ll want to do to be a great player.

“I just don’t want to underestimate those intangibles and that leadership. Leadership is essentially what makes a quarterback in the NFL become great.”

Lombardi touched on Tebow’s fame and unconventional playing style:

“It’s going to take a coach with a vision. He’s going to have to work on his accuracy, speeding up his game, mentally and physically with the ball. It’s going to take time and patience.

“Unfortunately with Tim Tebow, everybody scrutinizes every action he makes. When he gets off the bus on the wrong step or throws a bad pass in practice, people say he can’t do it.”

In the next breath, Lombardi defended Tebow:

“In his 40 starts at Florida he was highly productive. He found a way to make plays. At some point in the NFL — it may take three years — he will find a way to do it.”

It almost makes you think there is some giant red flag in this guys dossier that no one talks about. I'm no fan, but you would think he rapes children the way this guy is being shit on publicly by team reps and the media.

It doesn't make any sense. Shitbag teams like the Jags, Dolphins, Raiders, Browns etc... should be beating this guys door down. What do those teams have to lose?

Maybe not beat his door down, but you would think that league GMs could at least say something positive about him even if they aren't interested. They are like "fuck this guy and the horse he rode in on" when by all accounts he's a good guy, hard worker, etc.  Whose wife did this guy bang...LOL.

He was 7-4 as a starter (with a playoff win) Peyton didn't win a playoff game this season for Denver  :-X He is not a conventional quarterback. Those dogshit teams I mentioned earlier would kill for a 7-4 record, or a playoff win. Maybe my Pats can pickup Tebow. All I'm saying, is that the guy should be on a roster.

I think people are looking at it all wrong. Guy has middle linebacker written all over him.

he undermines leadership of whatever QB they have.   Even guys like Brady would be hearing chants of "Te-bow!" from the crowd when he has a 2 INT game.

and tebow fans the flames... he went into NY with a 'fck you sanchise, i'm here for your job".   He sucked at practice and in games and acted all whiny when he didn't get the start at the end of the season.  Hey, you're making 4 million a year.... STFU and do what coach tells you.

Tebow has a monster ego.  He isn't a humble man.  He isn't smart either, and cannot throw.  He was a cool story during that streak, but so were the Spice Girls.  The NFL figured him out, and he just cannot throw, bottom line.

It all comes down to what Tebow wants. It has been said that a few teams were interested in him if he would agree to switch positions. Tebow obviously doesn't want to do that (at least right now). I guess it comes down to whether or not Tebow wants to be in the NFL in any capacity.

240, he still deserves another chance to start. Hell, I would play him over Josh in Tampa. There are alot of scrub quarterbacks in the NFL.

tebow can't throw, end of story.you can't throw you can't play in the nfl

BS, he's proved he could in his first year with the Broncos and don't forget college. His second year he sat given no play time, now this. No, there's more to this story than "he can't throw". He's better than a lot QB's in the NFL that are starting or even back up. Sure as hell better than Romo.

Nah, Brady is in the handful of untouchable quarterbacks. Jesus wouldn't get playing time over Brady in New England.

I think he has willpower and is detemined.  But "deserve", I don't buy into.  If he came into NY and pwnt Sanchez, Rex would have started him.  Rex gonna lose his job after this year, probably.  Freeman in Tampa isn't exciting, but he can lay the ball in receiver's hands 10 times out of 10 times at 20 yards.   Tebow?  He rushes half the time cause he's 7/10 with that throw.

Tebow had by far the lowest completion % of any starting QB in 2011, 46.5%, the next closest was Blaine Gabbert, 50.8%.  Enough said.  No GM is going to put their job on the line for a guy who can't throw.

But do the Bucs win? Do the Browns win? Do the Raiders win? etc...... Tebow got screwed. Tebow would have won more games for the Jets then Sanchez last season.

You can't use stats with Tebow. Tebow should only be measured in wins and losses.

He said he would not play another position, or more specifically play the TE position I believe.

That is the problem. I agree with 240, when he said that Tebow creates havok on a team. If some shit team makes Tebow the backup, then the starter will be ruined (ala Sanchez) Some shit team needs to just let him start. Hello Jacksonville! Hello Cleveland! If he flames out, then he had his chance.

Absurd statement! That's like saying you can't use a tape measure to someone building a house.

Numbers are everything. And that's applied to the entire world no matter the industry.

If you're only using wins and losses, how about Vince Young, 31-19 as a starter.  He can't get a job in the league.

You make a great point. I thought of Vince. That guy got shafted too. Although, he has had alot of off the field problems. Tebow hasn't. That's my point though, a winning quarterback, is a winning quarterback.

Stats are meaningless it is what you do when the game is on the line that counts... Look at Romo!

it's been 2 days.   Nobody has signed him.

Maybe the Jets were dicks about how they cut him... but the collective knowledge of 32 NFL coaching staffs/front offices have not yet signed him.

No matter how things came together 2 years ago... the dude can't throw and he's getting slower every year.  He doesn't surprise defenses anymore.

The defense carried him in Denver all he did was not screw up, the minute they faced legitimate offensive threat in the Pats Tebow got exposed. Stop giving him credit for the wins in Denver that was all defense.
