Last year I used a friend's pressure washer and really liked it.  It was a Sears Craftsman with a Honda engine GC 190 6.0

I've been looking at purchasing one of these two.

I figure i won't notice much of a difference in power either way (one is bigger, one is smaller than what I used).  The 3 year warranty sounds good on the $$$one, as does the aluminum pump (no rust).   Any other considerations I should look at?  Leaning towards the Ryobi...

Have you asked your friend if she still has hers and if it still works properly?  I have burned up two (can't remember the brands) so I think your best bet is 1) borrow from your friend again or 2) Rent one for the times you need it. 

If you are still wanting to purchase your own you may want to ask your friend how hers has held up.

He's had his for years and uses often for the horse trailers.  Never had a problem, but he takes care of it really well (ie; winter storage, fuel, oil, etc.).  It's the Honda engine that's most important (I think).

Both are good. Just make sure after you use it to add a "pump saver" to lengthen the life of your pump.  The engine will outlast the pump.

What is pump saver?  Some sort of additive?

yep has special additives to condition the gaskets and seals within the pump

Get a monster if you've got an area to clean, assuming you even lift [it into the truck alone].  Volume output is where it's at.  Your friend must be all day cleaning a trailer with something this size.  And you'll be able to loan him your better one.  Guys love that.

I think triplex plunger pumps are prefered to axial swashplate on high quality units.  Brass seems like the material of choice.  Not sure if they are adjustable tho.  Swashplate design might allow a volume vs pressure selection?  

These guys have all sorts of goodies and won't ship lots of them to Aus.    They do hot water models as well.

Yes, he showed me that stuff to use before storing it for the winter.  It's not necessary to use it after every use is it?

Now you're getting complicated.     I don't need a monster unit, heck, I don't need one at all, but I'm sure I'll find stuff to clean    I want a decent unit that will last, but I'm not willing to spend bukoo bucks.

Speak for yourself    I like to canter/lope, gallop, rollbacks, cutting...  Not a fan of trotting, but it doesn't bother me.

Well, there's always electric ones too.  I have one.  A Karcher.  It's not pink or anything.

It's kinda nice being able to tuck it away on its side on the garage shelves.
