The differences is that Arnold wasn't exclusively seeking negative attention. Another difference is that Arnold was a hard worker with clear goals who relentlessly pushed himself to achieve whatever goal he set for himself. Taylor has none of those qualities. He tries to compensate for this by making a spectacle of himself.
Isn't he in his mid-twenties or close to that? That's not a kid anymore.
I beg to differ, I think Arnold knew that any attention, regardless of being good or bad, would be useful to him in the early stages on his career. That's probably why he had no qualms doing porn during those times and taking part in magazine articles where he would speak about how he and about 4-5 other pro bodybuilders went at it with one woman inside of Gold's gym (upstairs).
He understood the nature of the game and knew that even a eyelash in one's eye, while irritating, would garner enough attention for someone to want to see what exactly is causing the itch. He baited people for attention and he got it. He would lie, as he did in pumping iron and portray himself as a ruthless character, conniving to see others fail and it worked!
As for Taylor not being a kid, he is in his 20's. For me, a guy in his late 40's, anyone in their 20's is still a kid. A kid still able to go to school and pick up a decent career. A kid with no children that depend on him. A kid with the energy and drive to pursue as many endeavors as he pleases.
Who knows what Taylor is thinking as he reads this thread. He could very well be reassessing himself.
