and what's with the athletic commission releasing info of what prescriptions guys are on?
isn't that what HIPPA's for?
if a guy's using Viagra cuz he can't get his dick hard, or Accutane cuz he has acne and is vain, or Paxil cuz he's depressed, or Proscar cuz his prostrate is enlarged..... I don't think the commission has right to make it public.
it'd be like a female fighters birth control script being made public... or a yeast infection script... or herpes meds.
In many states, athletic commissions aren't considered health/medical care providers so they are aren't bound by HIPAA. When you sign the forms to be licensed in a state, you agree to wave certain protections anyway. There is sometimes a box that explains which areas they will look at and possibly release.
Also they won't usually disclose drugs like viagra, accutane, etc.... because they aren't on the banned substance list they use, so they don't care. Testosterone is, so they disclose it, and then rule if they feel it meets their guidelines for therapeutic use.
It's not a big deal.
