again, you can't just cherry pick the worst videos and say "this is why crossfitters are stupid". it's like using that pushup video where the dude goes down three inches and saying "this is why bodyweight exercising is dumb" or some teenager loading 585 on the bar and doing a three inch squat and saying "this is why bodybuilders are dumb ego lifters".crossfit's issue isn't ideology or design. it's that it's the new and fashionable exercise method so you've got six million "boxes" across the country where people who don't know what they're doing act like experts and "train" others to be just as stupid as they are. here's rich froning, the guy who won the games in 2012:you gonna tell me he can't bang out pullups all day long?if you actually dig in with CF training, like the actual programs designed by people who know WTF they're doing, the amount of strict pullups they advocate is like 10x the kipping they do, because you can't get any good at kipping without a foundation. similarly, most overhead pressing is done standing and strict, because that means you have a strong base to build off of when you do WODs that have push presses or jerks in them. in FACT, a shitload of WODs have "chest to bar" pullups. you can kip those if you want, but the point is that you literally have to get your chest all the way up to the bar. you're talking about chin clearing the bar, when was the last time you actually got your CHEST to the bar doing them?
Isn`t comparing Rich Froning with the average Crossfitter, Cherry Picking. I don`t think all of it is stupid, but I do think a lot of it is. I think some of the people are even dumber though than the actual programs themselves. . They don`t really need to pay someone for this "information". I do think the people who are into this, like and enjoy the subculture it has spawned for the most part and that is the reason they keep going with it.There is a lot of stupid to go around in any activity, bodybuilding included. No reason we can`t laugh at Crossfitters and bodybuilders alike.

CF is about things done quickly. that's how the majority of the games are ranked. it's how many reps/rounds you can do in X minutes or how fast you can do a given circuit. that's why a lot of them sound easy until you realize you're doing it as quickly as you can. 30 clean and jerks with 135 sounds easy, but doing it in less than two minutes isn't.that's why kipping pullups exist. it's about speed. get your bar over the chin as quickly as you can. obviously techniques will be developed to facilitate this. it's the exact same reason the olympics went from presses to jerks: it's an efficient way of achieving the same end result, and it's a lot easier to judge. instead of arguing about whether or not there was a "kip" to the pullup or leg drive to the press, just get your chin over the bar or the bar to overhead lockout. long as you get that far, it's valid.
