it's entirely possible to be too frugal... i know a guy who spends literally dozens of hours examining all the different ins and outs of every cellphone plan before committing to a change, basically haggling over a couple hundred dollars in the long run, maybe. does the same thing with pretty much any purchase. and has millions in the bank.
complete waste of life, if you ask me.
or people who force themselves to eat shitty food, not paying the 30% extra for ingredients that aren't made out of particle board.
there are easy ways to sensible large amounts of money:
don't buy luxury vehicles
choose your house sensibly
dont eat out every day (or multiple times a day)
don't choose a hobby that is out of your financial "league"
learn to provide some services (auto repair, home repair, etc.) yourself in your spare time, instead of relying on contractors
combine techniques like these with smart investing, and you've done well, imo. fuck haggling over chunk light vs. albacore, or driving across town to save a few pennies on gas, or going to the shitty theater to save a few bucks on a movie ticket... this kind of behavior indicates mental illness.
he wouldnt have millions if he blew it all like the moron i'm talking about
like me, i can never eat out or even buy food if it's not at the lowest price in the area
sometimes i get tempted by hunger, like today all shops are closed except some "open all day" shops; wanted to buy some pizza over there picked it up
thought about the deliscious taste, looked at the price
put it back
went home lol
or yesterday i was in the hospital to visit little anabol, i never pay parking tickets, i just follow other cars quickly so i dont need to pay
since it was midnight i had to wait a good 10 minutes before a car would exit the parking. but glad i save all those $$$
if i can win the lottory i will continue living like this, i will stop working however
people who live by the "yolo" principle and tell me to "enjoy money" etc, also complain about being exhausted from work etc
no kidding, working is a tremendous sacrifice of your life
so the money you get for it should be used responsibly
if you blow your money you are just blowing your hard work
unemployed people could be happier because they dont have to work
things like this are on my mind ALL THE TIME
