(CNN) - A 30-year-old man wanted for jumping parole was the alleged home invader killed in a New York shootout with police that also left a college student dead, police said Saturday.

Dalton Smith of Hempstead, New York, was on parole for first-degree robbery and had an "extensive" arrest history that includes robbery, assault, and promoting prison contraband, said police in Nassau County.

A warrant for his arrest was issued April 25 for allegedly absconding from parole, police said.

Smith was identified by his fingerprints, police said.

Also killed in the incident was Andrea Rebello, a 21-year-old Hofstra University junior who lived with her twin sister in an off-campus house in Uniondale, New York.

Police spokesman Steven Zacchia said Saturday that the source of gunfire that killed Rebello is still under investigation.

Their twins' residence was invaded in predawn hours Friday by a man wearing a black ski mask who forced his way into their home. The sisters shared the house with two other students, according to police.

At some point during the night, a female roommate of the twins was able to leave the home and call police, a police spokesman told CNN on Friday.

When police arrived, there was an exchange of gunfire that left Rebello and the suspect dead.

It was not immediately known whether the suspect knew the students. Armed robbery was believed to be the motive for the home invasion.

That shirt has to be on backwards.  No way the neck is that high in front.  He's almost chewing on it

In the original script, he also wore a Devo hat.  It's a shame they changed it in post-production.   :-\

Indeed.  At least the Broadway play had incorporated the entire "cold war" angst motiff with Jeff Conaway in the lead role.  Dan Fogelberg's score really made the play something people of all social and economic strata could relate to.

It was a cop's bullet that killed her?

What does firearm training consist of for police?  One session of "here's what bullets look like" and a few minutes of "close eyes, pull trigger repeatedly" practice?
