Why does this movie cliche exist
« on: May 20, 2013, 11:45:29 AM »
Police are at a crime scene. The local and federal police officers start to bicker about who gets to have this case.

Local officer: Hey X, this is my case!
Federal officer: No Y, get YOUR nose out of MY investigation!
Local officer: Ok X, have it your way (starts to mutter) I fucking hate your guts and the next assignment will be mine!

1. It's not beliavable. When the extent of the crime is not clear (initial investigation) local and federal officers work together (I believe). These things aren't decided on the field that's for sure and if anyone used that much emotion on a simple matter like this they would be too unstable to be a police officer.

2. It's dull. These guys are basically arguing about who gets to push some pencils and we only know 1 or few of these people, why should we really care?

3. It's forced conflict and it rarely gets resolved.

I hate this trope/cliche. 0 stars out of 5.

My favorite is when they invade the house and all SWAT members are wearing head to toe protective gear, except the main actor who is leading the charge has on a designer leather jacket and his badge on a steal ball necklace.  HAHA

Some good ones lol:

Whenever anyone in a movie goes shopping, they always come back with stuff sticking out of the top of the shopping bag, usually carrot tops and French bread.

If you're a high school student in a film, you will always get one of the preferable eye-level lockers.

Characters arrive at the airport and get "right on the plane".

The bullet shot to the protective vest just has the cop sort of cringe in pain when the truth is taking a bullet to the vest will knock you back and on your ass.

Also why is it when a cop does get shot in the vest, they always take a quick break and have to peel back their shirt and pull the vest down a bit to show where the bullet hit?

My favorite is a female action hero. Or a female character that physically takes out several male attackers. Gimme a break.

The Federal Government routinely oversteps their bounds.  They need to be put in their place.

The County Sheriff should be regarded as the highest ranking law enforcement authority.

almost always either a paper bag or one of those cloth shopping bags to reinforce Hollyweird's "go green" bullshit

another movie cliche... the one gay person is always made to be the most likeable, and wisest, character  ::)

Yes taking a women seriously whether in films or in real life takes quite a leap for it to be believable.

How about how in the teen movies of the 80's for example, the bullies were really nothing more than faggy pussies who could not in reality fight their way out of a paper bag face

Just to note, Chet from Weird Science and Ogre from Revenge of the nerd were bad ass yet played good teen bullies even though they both look like 35 year olds playing 20 year olds

Doesn't knock you on your ass, it hurts to the point it leaves bruising.

Another is the animosity between detectives and street cops.. Just not that way.

Another is the Captain being a dick and always yelling at his detectives..

checking your gun for bullets just before you enter a building or room, even though you've been carrying the gun all day

racking the shotgun more than once for effect during a scene and no shell ejects
