Police as good guys.  With the exception of a few films like Bad Lieutenant, LA Confidential, and Serpico.

Doesn't knock you on your ass, it hurts to the point it leaves bruising.

bo shit it doesn't.  The demos you see are guys knowing they are about to be hit and prepped for it.  But in reality when you don't expect it and it comes and hits you square in the chest, that fucker knocks the wind right out of you.

- the thief who is taken out of retirement for one last heist

- cop gets killed 1 day before retirement

- cop won't retire until final case is solved

- girl/guy always gets the girl/guy they want, no matter what the circumstances. true love exists. no matter what.

When the crook opens the door of a home and the alarm immediately goes off.  This would mean that the home owner would always trip the alarm when they come home.  Fact is most alarms give you 30-60 seconds to disarm before it fires off.

The rugged, salty old man or woman with a "heart of gold"

The old cop who seemingly hates the world...even every other cop...saving the day at the end.

Two cops forced to be partners...totally different personalities and perspectives...by the end of the movie, not only do they respect one another, but they have adopted each others' mannerisms and catch-phrases.
