consoles.pcs.tablets and phones will all morph into one total solution product

this is the last cycle of the stand alone

Exactly. I have always been an Xbox guy (on the recent console gens) but I will glady give a big FU to Microsoft, if this turns out to be true.

I will still buy, since I am adult and buy my own games.

But, I agree with Gigantor's concerns about other implications on consumers, but I'm not even going to concern myself until we really see what they're going to do.  We'll see what Major Nelson posts.

Me too. I always buy New games. I am just going on principle here. Microsoft needs to trend lightly.

Kinda have to agree with that.  Most of the time I buy new games.  Not always, but for new releases etc....

Nothing about the xbox one reveal made me feel like this is a bad product.  I actually said I'm willing to jump on it and buy it right away on the day of launch.

Why I'm contemplating switching to pc is because, only reason I'm playing xbox now is For Halo and multiplayer which I don't really do that much anymore, 95% of the time I game on my own.  So might as well just switch to something that will give me the best graphics.

I'm already planning on buying a new desktop, why not just increase my budget and make it a gaming desktop.  Sure it won't be fool proof for 10 years, but I'd be ok updating some hardware every couple of years to make sure its running at its best capacity.  for me its all about the games, I don't really care for all the stuff they did with the TV integration - as cool as that is, not the selling point for me.  I'll wait and think about before I make a decision.

I play a lot of multi, and Live has the highest amount of people online for the games I play, so it works for me.

I buy my own stuff as well, never bought a used game in my life besides used Nintendo DS carts for my nephew, so this really doesn't hit me directly. It's just the precedent it sets and how consumers and the media products that we buy are viewed and labeled. And if I can't borrow a game from a friend of mine without paying close to retail to activate the license for the game....well that's fucking bullshit.

plain and simple, the PC STILL doesn't get anywhere NEAR all the good games that come out on consoles.  so, until it does, i will be buying consoles.  (that said, this might be changing soon -- next-next gen?)

also, if you're so poor as to care about the used game thing, why are you playing videogames in the first place ???

guaranteed no one will give a shit in 2 years

I agree.  I knew they would eventually try to capitalize on the secondary market in terms of gamefly, gamespot, ec....but yes, it's a crock in the example you used.

I want to play goldeneye.  EXACT same levels.  only it'd be all real looking people, not so squared off.

anyone who has spent months playing that game every night can still view all those levels in their head.  I still dream about those levels and haven't played it in 7-8 years.

i dont know anyone who has completed the game with no cheats

the highest i ever seen anyone get was the second last level

i think it was the aztec level

fuk achievements and gamer scores

if you can finish alex the kid on sega master system thats an achievement lol

yeah but the cheats were awesome. when i was a kid i used to spend hours on that runway level.

i'd park the tank in front of the plane so it doesn't get blown up, take out two grenade launchers and launch them into the air and try to get them to land on the infinitely spawning troops, mortar style

I think I've made my decision.  After going back and forth a few times, I've thought long and hard about it for a few days and I will be buying the new xbox, and not switching to a gaming PC.

Like it or not, there are still more games that come out on consoles than on PC, would hate to spend all this money setting up a nice gaming rig only to not be able to play some game i really want to jump on!

Even though I only rent games from gamefly, I'm probably still going to buy the Xbox One. I just wore out the shit of my Xbox 360 over the years and I know I'm going to end up buying both Xbox One and PS4. I got both 360 and PS3 as well. No interest in the Wii U though. There are only like 3 games I would like to play but I don't think that justifies purchasing the system.

This is where I am at.....although Sony losing exclusivity on MGS could change things.   I know I'll get the Xbox, but will definitely follow both systems over the next few months to see what the deal is.

Why not get both....you don't have to outright buy a gaming PC....just buy the components....video card, processor, SSD hard drive, etc....

Since I've always just purchased every system in every generation dating back to the NES and Genesis/SNES days, exclusivity didn't mean anything to me really.

That being said, if MGS5 comes out for both systems, I'll get the PS4 version via gamefly so I can avoid having the buy it. I'm the type of guy who just likes to play through games once, dabble a bit in the multiplayer, and then I'm done with it (the type of gamer that nerds hate).

F the nerds - to each his own.  ;D

I agree - I've had pretty much every system except the Saturn.  But, non game functionality is beginning to play a big part and the time I have to actually play games keeps shrinking.

Yea I'm old school that way. I like a great single player experience. I have no interest in customizing crap in games or designing my own levels. I want the game to be made for me already so I can play it. Then a nice multiplayer mode is nice too, but not essential to me (except for Halo and COD)

Also, the Saturn was awesome!

GS News - Pachter: Xbox One $400, PS4 $350

Not only that, look at the Nonsense that Microsoft is pulling with the Cable Companies.  Its mainly a TV Box at this point.

those are great prices for a launch. only 50 bucks higher than consoles were last year when they were 5+ years old
