Here's a little something that has been bugging me for the longest time, now I'm all for the the class men and women because there are those who don't want to play the size game and/or coming down from a bigger size. But my question is this, why in the men's physique division they are allowed to wear the long surfer shorts effectively hiding their entire leg from the knees up. Now I know it's not the full bodybuilding category but still quads, hams and glutes should still be part of the equation, just wondering, just a thought.

I always thought that it was a knee jerk reaction to some of the things that the general public doesn't like about BB. Maybe the fucking dental floss thongs didn't poll well.

Plus, it allows fitness dudes to avoid the squat rack (unless curling, of course).

I'd agree, the bejeweled thong is probably the first thing to go, if you're trying to gain a less schmoetastic appeal to BB.

Wearing the long shorts takes the "gey" out of it.

I agree to your point that if your quads are your best muscle group it could actually hurt your placing.
Also wearing the shorts Meant to cater more to the fitness model, pretty boy look. It's similar to figure in that having a "pretty" face and good skin can improve yoru placing.

Alot of body builders cross over to it and still place horribly b/c they think it's all about size.

Shorts that end at the mid to upper mid thigh would be sufficient but shorter than that is just extra icing on the schmoe's cake

Mens physique is the kind of sport where you can kick back with your mates on a friday and crack open a beer to watch the girls and, intermittently, the surfer dudes and say damn I wanna look like that dude at the beach like you would watch a roman statue or an episode of baywatch.
