because more range of motion and more emphasis on the teardrop part of the quads

fact or fallacy?

in short, is there a bb advantage to front squats over leg press?

No homo, I can squat my ass off. Always had big quads naturally and don't need much to get much. Squats are ok but I got alot more out of front squats. I guess it depends on how you're built

that is true for everybody

it's simple

the more upright your torso stays in a squat the more knee extention dominant the move is

the more forward the torso, the more hip extention dominant the move is

because of this the stresses shift to the most dominant hinge point

so a back squat (and even more so a low bar back squat) will build the thigh close to the hips

and a front squat will build the thigh close to the knees

squat and press are an alchimie for big and strong leg

if i do only squat, the strength skyrocket but my leg are less big and less complete.

press only don't give me the hard work and the muscle soreness the squat gives.

so squat + press is the best.

in what order is advisable?

squat=>leg press for maximal gainz

leg press => squat for joint and spine

Front Squats are great, but they hurt my knees, so I don't do them all the time. I switch them up with box squats. I also do old-school barbell hack squats one week and switch those with leg press the next. I think I get the most out of the front squats and barbell hacks. It all comes down to what works best for you.

The best shape my legs were in was doing nothing but squats, front squats, and sissy squats. Followed by sprints. No leg extension/leg press. Just anecdotal and personal opinion that squats > leg press.

i think we are in agreement squats and front squats give better gains than leg press?

but worth the spinal injury risk?

a lot of people's spines are not even perfectly straight to start with

loading 400lbs+ barbells on it seems not advisable, no matter how "cool" it feels

x1000  that's it, no other leg exercises are needed. Me, I love leg press and hate squats, but do them both. My kids ask me to flex my legs if I wear shorts, they think all those weird muscle ropes are funny.... ;)

High bar back squats are the best option, more weight potential and you can do much higher reps than front squats because thoracic tightness can b maintained longer than with fronts.

No need to ever go over 315 if bbing Is your aim.
