He died in his sleep, so I'm guessing heart attack. They had one other brother that was kinda famous for pioneering the use of robots in surgery, Howard "Hap" Paul - https://www.istaonline.org/awards/ , https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/203441556/howard-allen-paul .

The boys' mother's father owned a big car dealership in New England (Grody Chevrolet) for many years. Interesting family story.

The Palpin thing is weird, I don't think Peter legally changed it, he just started using it 15-20 years ago. I think it started as a stage name, then it became whatever it is today. The family doesn't use it, and the only one that would call him that was David, but I think that was because he was around Peter the most.

Only other thing I can think of is maybe "Palpin" is an old, old family name that Peter discovered, and tried to bring back.
