Slap tear 9-2 ortho does the falcons and braves players

I wrote a detail account under training...in injuries section

http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=189633.0

I read it and I think you just have to give it time and go based on how your body responds to the recovery phase. Dont set up pyramids of a set time of when things must be good. The body is a healing process, not a machine. But wish you the best hope all's well soon. And remember surgery and physical therapy is very psychological.

Thanks BigN, I have 2 degenerative diseases in my spine. I have had 2 fusions, plates put in, plates taken out. I just had a stim nerve stimulator put in 2 weeks ago,  it did nothing and they have already taken it back out. I have had over 40 injections, every type of therapy you can think of. The stimulator I just went through was the last option for pain relief. Now I just have to rely on the morphine sulfate I take for pain relief.
You should fly through yours with great success. Please keep us posted. I am 54 so I have that against me too. But I have been dealing with this back since I was 22.

Thanks bro. And I understand where you coming. The pain and suffering isnt easy to deal with, but its part of life and just have to accept the facts. I think your circumstances shouldnt phase you too much due to the knowledge, and understanding you have of what you're going through. As you know, it could always be worse which is something I tell myself too, it somewhat helps keep me grounded and acceptive towards pain and suffering when it comes to injuries and rehabilitation. Good luck.

Good luck man. I fear I may have a similar injury.  :( I injured my shoulder back in October and its still bothering me.

Thanks bro. Sorry to hear about your injury. Give us some insight on how it happened, the specific type of injury and what not. That way we could try to help as much as possible.

I have a 2 year old SLAP lesion.  Luckily, smarter training and low dose nandrolone keeps it feeling healthy and pain free. Good luck broham.

Thanks bro, sorry to hear about your injury too. But it's all about the iron training, trials and errors.

Both my brothers fucked up their shoulders doing sports, and they never fully recovered afterwards.

Pain, limited range of motion, and weird cracking noises still haunt them.

Good luck, phaggot.

Lol thank you sir, wish a speedy recovery for your two bros too.

I have been doing that and it feels awesome.  My shoulders ache but in the water they are great.

How long has it been since you had your shoulder surgery and physical therapy done.

You needed 7 years to gather the money for the surgery ?

Lol! Not exactly. At first it was suggested to let the injury heal and make the shoulder better the natural way by tightening up the surrounding muscles to keep the shoulder tight and stable in the socket through PT. That did work, but partially. Plus shoulder wasnt strong enough for exercising more than 15-20lbs dumbbells, or going to the gym 3-4 times a week or doing chest or some shoulder exercises. Then also taking into consideration my hectic job schedule, expensive insurance, never had surgery before and other life related issues which prevented me from doing surgery and the whole post PT process. So i'd say about 6-7yrs.

-If you need surgery and make sure you do your homework, its better to get the surgery done while you're young to get a speedy full recovery.

Injuries are frustrating and depressing. Luckily bodybuilders are the best at rehab. Most slugs just go through the motions at rehab but if you lift you know how to work. Just wait until you get the doctors okay before you add onto your physical therapy. Once the doctor gave me the okay I went to rehab and every day tried to increase my range of motion.  I eventually used little midget dumbbells you can buy at walmart. I had a different injury. A complete bicep rupture. It took me 6 months to regain my upper body strength. Some guys with partials are back way quicker. I bet the first couple of weeks after surgery you will feel like your lifting is completely over. Then gradually the strength and mobility will start returning. With the doctors okay start trying to get mobility back in the shoulder. Then use imaginary air weights. Then one pound dumbbells and so on. Work hard at the physical therapist office.

I think deadlifting is a dangerous exercise for biceps, that's why you should do them with dumbbells instead of barbells so the arms can adjust to their natural position over the whole lift.

Come to think of it, why use barbell for anything, arms are made to operate independently in all directions.

I had an MRI on my shoulder in 2009, dislocated both several times - it showed an anterior labrum tear.

Been trying to rehab it myself, not too successfully, may have to take the plunge and get surgery too.

I hear that. Make sure you follow up with two different type of orthopedic surgeons. One who specializes in shoulders/knees only and one who specializes overall for the body as an orthopedic surgeon. If PT didnt work, and its a tear whether its small/big then i'd suggest possibly looking into surgery after doing your best with the natural way of rehabilitation. Good luck bro!

Deads are only dangerous for biceps if you use a supinated grip for one arm.

Good luck - incredibly frustrating when you're hurt and not running on full steam.

Thanks bro. Absolutely, it is frustrating especially when its a tear and cant heal without pretty much surgery. PT did help stabilize, strenghten the surrounding areas of the injury. But thats only good for average joe who doesnt lift, or engage in stressful physical activities.

Thanks bro. Yes, the healing from the surgery with the incisions might take 4-6 weeks to heal. Then PT will do the rest.

Lol of all thing it was playing disc golf!  Hurt real bad when it happened sent a jolt through my body almost like getting the wind knocked out. During normal activities there is no pain. Pain only when lift arm above head like working shoulders or shooting g basketball. After I get warmed up I can play basketball pretty painless.

I would disagree (to a point).  When I see the average person deadlifting they are set up, grab the bar, apply some tension to it and the shoulders come forward slightly (along with some scapular protraction).  Then they start to lift and the weight obviously will want to accentuate the movement I just talked about.  The lifter then tries to pull their shoulders back and retract the scapula.  Remembering that the bicep tendon becomes part of the labrum your bicep is then susceptible to injury.  Thats why its important to keep that good scapular retraction with this movement (among other things).

Try this...take a single handle and attach it to a pulldown machine.  Reach up with your shoulder relaxed and sit down.  Now, try and just pull your shoulder down by depressing the scapula.  Hard as hell to do.  Now, reach up with your shoulder/scapula already in the depressed position and you will probably be able to use a heavier load.  (hope that makes sense)

Managing Expectations When Recovering from a Labral Repair

http://www.physiodc.com/managing-expectations-when-recovering-from-a-labral-repair/

I've read it, good read and informative. But as you know each patient recovers differently, which is why its important to see how your body is responding.

Thanks for taking the time to write this solid post. I agree, have to do things the right way as far as recovering, gaining range of motion, mobility and then strength. How's your bicep now? And how many years has it been since the injury happened, also what injured it.
