Report: Alex Rodriguez And Ryan Braun To Be Suspended For Ties To Performance Enhancing Drugs

Alex RodriguezMajor League Baseball is preparing to suspend about 20 players connected to the anti-aging clinic in Miami that is believed to have distributed performance enhancing drugs, according to an "Outside the Lines" report on ESPN.com.

Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun are the two most prominent players named. MLB may seek to suspend both players for 100 games, the penalty for a second offense.

MLB believes both players lied about their connection to the clinic. The lying as well as the actual connection to the clinic are considered by MLB to be separate offenses.

The report also states that Anthony Bosch, who owned the Biogenesis anti-aging clinic, will swear an affidavit for MLB that he did distribute banned drugs to players and that suspensions could be handed out within two weeks.

It is possible the number of players facing suspension could grow. MLB knows about 20 players through records they have already obtained. "Outside the Lines" reports that Bosch may provide names of other players.

Other players facing suspension include Melky Cabrera (Blue Jays), Bartolo Colon (A's), Yasmani Grandal (Padres), Nelson Cruz (Rangers), Francisco Cervelli (Yankees), Jesus Montero (Mariners), Jhonny Peralta (Tigers), Cesar Puello (Mets minor leaguer), Fernando Martinez (Astros), Everth Cabrera (Padres), Fautino de los Santos (A's), and Jordan Norberto (A's).

MLB Performance Enhancing Drug scandal - including ARod and R Braun
« Reply #1 on: June 04, 2013, 09:44:17 PM »
Major League Baseball will seek to suspend about 20 players connected to the Miami-area clinic at the heart of an ongoing performance-enhancing drug scandal, including Alex Rodriguez and Ryan Braun, possibly within the next few weeks, "Outside the Lines" has learned. If the suspensions are upheld, the performance-enhancing drug scandal would be the largest in American sports history.

What about the NFL?  Somehow they miss the drug abuse there.  Yeah, I forgot.  If they went after the NFL, it would turn the league in a product less than the XFL.  Hence, extinction NFL.

Though I am pissed that MLB gets constantly attacked for PEDs while the NFL seems to get a free pass, I must say that anything bad that happens to scumbag A-Fraud is a plus. 8)

pretty much going after peds in any sport is hypocrisy

buncha fatasses that get winded walking from their fridge to the couch, covered in potato chip crumbs swigging shitty beer telling professional athletes how they should play the sport

it's retarded

Biogenesis Director Tony Bosch and his logs on who received PEDs are going to rock the nation.

Not sure why these baseball athletes didn't learn from Manny Ramirez on how the Bosch's work - when he was suspended after the dad, Dr. Pedro Bosch, wrote a prescription and it leaked out...

Yankees supposedly have multiple private investigators watching A-rods every move...They want out of that contract in a big way...Albert Pujols is next. If he doesn't start producing the second half of this season, he may end up like A-rod...A-rod's ego is too big to retire. Instead, he is going to try to take it to the end with all that cash...Yankees will eventually win in the end and A-rod will most likely have a lifetime ban over the next couple years. If they get the 100 game ban on A-rod, he's one more steroid infraction away from lifetime ban and losing all that money...

no player from 1980 - now should ever be inducted into the baseball hall of fame unless they have a steroid wing at cooperstown

Braun should be banned from MLB for life. This will be his 3rd offense and he stole an MVP award.

Of course they should.  There's too much varying amounts of bullshit in every era of baseball.  You just have the measure the players against the competition at the time.

The players of yesteryear were hardly saints.  They're pro athletes, they're always going to go to the extreme for an edge.   Couple that with the potential now to set up generations of your family financially, who can blame today's players.

Why did they use their real names?  MLB has bigger issues. How come none of these guys failed any tests?  They only accuse them of using steroids because someone like Bosch claims he gave it to them, but MLB has no positive tests?

That wing should exist...However, fans just weren't in tune with what the players were doing decades ago...All that is going on today is the fan got smarter because of the internet...From here on out, players are still going to use illegal substances...So Cooperstown may as well close shop for good or just face the fact that many people were cheating from the creation of any "sport"...If the guys from the 1920s were here today to talk about cheating, I'd imagine that the stories would be plentiful.

Life is so out of whack… and just weird. ???

All these guys have to do is take a trip to Mexico or Europe and they can buy 95% of these drugs over the counter.

The problem is that they don’t know what to do, what to take, when to take it. They don’t know how to balance their Test/Epi-test ratios, mask their usage, etc.

They’re just so ignorant about subjects (training, nutrition) in which they should be masters. So they end up risking everything to listen to these guys who will sell them out in a heartbeat. Sooner or later, all these dealers get caught... and then they rat.

What pisses me off is that these guys are blessed with these genes, these tools, but they don’t take the time or put in the effort to learn anything that could make them better. They are so used to coastin’.

Forget about drugs for a minute. Just look at nutrition and natural training.

They don’t know dick about vitamins/minerals or eating right. They really don’t know how to train with weights either. They all want a big chest, biceps and forearms to both to hit the ball harder/further… and to show off their “Hollywood muscles” to broads.

They hire personal trainers who don’t know dick. Most of them just become their drug source. It’s a joke. And so they end up with severe muscular imbalances because they don’t know what the hell they’re doing.

Their traps are weak; their shoulders (especially rotator cuff) are weak. Their backs are a mess because of the old “out of sight, out of mind mentality.” Don’t even bring up their wheels which they know can be hidden under their long pants (uniforms).

This makes them susceptible to the types of injuries we often see in the sport. Things like shoulder problems, elbow problems, low back strain. The kind of things that constantly put them on 15 and 30 day disabled lists.

Now, I’m not saying these types of injuries can’t happen in the sport. I played all the way through college. I had my share. But a lot of them are stresses and strains due to muscular imbalances resulting from poor training technique due to lack of knowledge.

One would think that as professional athletes, such people would be well versed in such subjects, but they know little more than the Average Joe on the street. In fact, I’d be willing to bet that more often than not, they know less.

Sad but true. ::)
