Hmmm.... I think that a lot of these guys like Golias genuinely have dysmorphia to start with.  This is then compounded by them seeking and gaining validation via Social Media - which can be manipulated of course. Even the out-angling in fan photos is an attempt to control how they are perceived by the masses.

It's all a fantasy - a confection that feeds both sides and keeps them happy.  I guess this works to a great extent because a lot of kids (and by that I mean the teens & twenties crowd) just love the freak factor and are either unaware of - or choose to overlook - all the drugs, illegality etc.  They don't give a f**about the history of the sport, they just want to feel like they are a part of something.
