The amount of coverage this is getting from the national media is absurd. It will only stop when people complain that this is a at most a minor issue. I don't like her but no one should have their career ruined because they use a racial slur...not any race. If there is a patter of racist behavior or maltreatment, then this is completely appropriate. Racial jokes aren't appropriate in the workplace and discriminatory behavior intolerable but otherwise people need be stop being so fucking overly sensitive, which makes these things a much bigger deal than they need to be.

The protest in Brazil, the FBI admitting that they use drones on US soil should get more traction.

I agree with you statement. My problem with the idea i mentioned is that it's completely unprovable. It's also an easy way to brand an individual or a group as racist without having to back up that claim. Even when they are trying to help, it's motivated by racism.

Yes. French are an odd bunch. They've been going crazy for the African women since colonial days. Josephine Baker was a sex symbol in France at a time when blacks couldn't get a cup of coffee at a white restaurant in the states. I often wonder if the French attitude on race isn't just a manifestation of their tendency toward snobbishness.

They viewed the American Negro more exotic than their African brethren, possibly due to the whole Jazz thing. I told Frenchie (learned this in History and my sister who studies French language and culture). That the French would intergrate with their colonies, to show them the superiority of the French way. Whereas the Brits had that "How dare you talk to me, you silly native. I should have you horsewhipped" type of attitude.
