I used to read Ironage as there were some good posters on there but it's been members only to even be allowed to read it for a year or so. I guess that's to prevent naughty people from reading it then slagging it off over on Getbig. Ken had an interesting thread about Gold's back in the day but I don't imagine he was allowed to really spill the beans about the gay movie casting which was part of the Gold's business model if truth be told.

The 14 years olds comment from Arthur is creepy in the extreme. What does Vince mean by "I was in enough trouble already".

In the UK we have Heath Robinson to describe overly complex machines, in the USA you have Rube Goldberg. In Australia they have Vince Basile.

the 14 yr old thing is very odd. assuming this story is true, i could understand him joking 'if you come, bring some young girls haha' a normal person would think 18-20 year olds, but to specifically say '14 yr olds' either Jones was into that or he knew something about basile and was throwing it out as a ballbusting comment, like making a lame joke about getting high in front of someone who got caught with weed.

Arthur Jones didn't know me and I didn't know much about his private life except that he married a much younger woman who eventually dumped him. I talked to him for about an hour after I had patented a biceps-supinator machine. I had yet to build it as it was a challenge and a half. I got along just fine with Arthur. So I said I would visit him the next time I was in the states. That is when he said, "Bring two 14 year old girls with you." That was a surprise. I suppose he considered such young women to be the ultimate in female attractiveness. I replied that I was already in enough trouble for extra-marital stuff so didn't need any encouraging. My wife at the time was listening in on the other phone line. I just laughed the comment off as coming from an eccentric genius. There is no way I would have followed through with his request. It was just a comment to shock me and my wife. He knew she was listening in because I told him. So there you are. Don't try making anything out if it. Arthur died before I had a chance to visit him. I would have gone there by myself of course. There aren't that many highly intelligent guys in this irongame that would be worth having an interesting discussion with.

Look at how that buffoon Goodrum did a search to collect quotes from various anonymous jerks like Quickerblade trying to use that as evidence against me. These forums are nasty enough without dickheads making up crap and then posting that rubbish as factual. I guess some losers think they are something if they succeed in cutting down what to them must be tall poppies.
