That's a market price... Market dictating prices for a day/week/whatever.
The government just chose to take your money and you can't CHOOSE to shop anywhere else (They take it if you leave the country too)

they have one item on a super low sale price every Friday
a few weeks ago it was pints of blueberries for 99 cents
the day before the sale they was 3.99 and the day after the sale they were 3.99
since is was 99 cent for 24 hours I guess I can go in an complain that they raised the prices
The government gave you and temporary reduction in your payroll tax. It was called a temporary reduction at that time
It's the equivalent to a one day sale at whole foods except it was only supposed to last for a year but was extended for 2 years
