Thats not an option for most people. I made too much money (working poor) and fed loans were the best option at the time. I started going to school in 2011, the credit market was still tight during that period even for someone with a good credit score.

for about $20 grand and three years of school I'll start off making $30/hr as a floor nurse

plan on either getting into hospital administration or NP and be making around $100 grand+ a year

College is not for everyone. Seriously. Maybe you should have learned a trade. I had $14k in loans coming out of college, because I worked while at school, and I paid it off within a year of graduating. Fuck you if you complain about a loan you signed for. Deal with it.

Exactly. I know plumbers and electricians that make more than I do with an engineering degree from a good college. These dumb asses owing 80k on a liberal arts degree are morons and should pay up for their financial stupidity.

I roofed my way through college and didnt owe a dime coming out.

I'm not bitching about the initial loan, the 3% interest was okay, but now it's going to be doubled because Washington can't make a deal.

The fact is that Washington doesn't owe you money and shouldn't be in the loan business to begin with. If they wanted to help people afford College (a legitimate interest under the practically boundless interpretation of the interstate commerce clause that's currently in play) there are other, more efficient ways to do it.

You can easily double your 80k base with OT, you just have to be willing to work 10-12 a day and a Saturday here and there. Lots of hours and beats the body though. Yeah it's the same pay as and engineer but the engineer is working half the hours, literally... An engineer makes between 55-70/ hour and works 4 8s right around 35 hours a week unless a special project is going on.

In a way its good. Also, its a hidden way for Democrats or the Liberals in Congress to admit defeat. The days of affordable college for everyone are over. Hopefuly now the devaluation of the college degree which was caused by these programs will stop.
