Twice a week - ADONIS?
« on: June 28, 2013, 09:31:37 PM »
How's hitting it twice weekly working out for you Adonis?

I've modified the Layne Norton PHAT program, I'm doing Chest/Tri, Back/Bi, Legs/Shoulders, heavy as hell (low reps) Monday thru Wednesday.

Same split Thursday thru Saturday but I'm focusing on hypertrophy those days.

I honestly look better than ever, and I'm gaining strength again big time.  It's been a five weeks and there's no sign of over training.

yo, i wouldnt follow lay nortern programs, unless on gear like himself. :D

also i never seen him do a proper rep of anything, ppl giving shit to cswol here, but lays goodmorning deadssquats are atrocious, those are hitting the quads about as hard as laying on the beach

You might be right, but for now it really is working like a fucking charm.  Maybe I just needed a temporary boost or change but for now, I'm riding this wave... lol

Twice a week has given me the best progress at the fastest rate.  I think it is optimal.  Not necessary but optimal, especially if you are not on any drugs or anything.

yah, often ppl find out very late how good it is to increase training frequency.

oh brother, the wasted time i regret so much when i was doing 3 rorkouts a week and thought i need the 4 days off to recover.haha

That's where I was, completely misguided... lol

Good to know, glad you posted the PHAT program (or whoever it was that did).

man fuck all you so call rocket scientists trying to come up with all these new so called workouts its all a bunch of bullshit every person has different recovery abilities and it also depends on how much sleep and how much stress is in your life etc, any basic routine will work and when you try a new workout and feel that you are gaining its called shocking your body dumbasses and it also helps you mentally because you are doing something new, you einsteins really need to get a clue or better yet get a trainer.

PHAT is a killer program. I've done it for 1.5 years, though I've modified it as to maximize my anabolic windows and so on and so forth.   I like any split that hits it all twice a week.

So why do they need a trainer after reading that?  Like you are going to come up with an "amazing" routine?  Oh wait...instead of doing pulldowns first, they will do rows.  Then you will reduce the rest period and tell them how good they are doing while wearing a polo shirt one size too small to embellish your average arm size but unfortunately not your gut (but its ok, you are bulking right now)

Yes but  how many excercies per group, for example chest and back, do you do? And how long does the workout become from start to finish?

I want to do twice a week, with focus on form and high reps but I don't have the time.

Remember my client base is the average joe who knows nothing about training and they need somebody to motivate them.

Find me a person who did basic lifts, trained several times a week and then any changes in his training schedule made significant difference in his progress (physique wise).

Good luck with that.

Now, powerlifting/weightlifting, that's a different story.

Oh and Layne's "squat" is what he does before powerlifting meets. He (hopefully) does not do that year round.

That's 250kg (555lbs) high bar, narrow stance... about 20kg lighter than Norton.

Norton is so fucking overhyped.

Here Igor Lukanin dances with Layne Norton's squat record.

Oh and Igor Lukanin is olympic weightlifter, he undergoes much stricter testing than Norton. So if Norton is natural, this guy is supernatural.

I want to do twice a week, with focus on form and high reps but I don't have the time.

On the first three days I'm doing something like MAX-OT, focusing on gaining strength.  Second three days I'm doing something like 20 sets, 10 to 12 reps (The kind of workout that gives you a good pump).  I take a ton of time between sets on the first three days so I can lift heavy.  Second three days I try to keep up the intensity and really do a lot of work.

Might be stupid, but I'm liking this.
