They have no effect on the brain? Have you ever seen a 13 year old boy or girl who starts to produce hormones and the mental changes? Maybe because you're a druggie but there is a mental effect from steroids. They make you aggressive and confident. When you go off completely for a month or two you start to feel nervous and meek. How many steroid users go completely off for a 2 to 6 months? Hardly any. It's normally a 3 week break and back on the crap.
Correction - was a junkie.
Anyway, there is a pronounced difference in mental changes resulting from hormones vs actual rec drugs that force the brain directly to release large quantities of "feel good" neurotransmitters such as dopamine and serotonin.
Hormones do not force the brain to release a rush of neurotransmitters when used, they don't make you euphoric, you don't get high. They do not act on the feel good transmitters in the brain. They just do not.
Their possible addiction lies down a completely different route than cocaine and meth, so for Uberman to compare them to normal drugs was in error.
