It's not celebrated in Australia.

Neither is being a drug mule and subsequent informant, I would imagine.

Watching the fireworks over the lake from the boat with friends ~ a yearly tradition.
Fresh veggies with homemade hummus
Red Pepper cheesecake (savory) served with crackers and homemade pita chips
Roasted beef tenderloin sammiches with arugula and mustard horseradish sauce
Sweet Potatoes with Yogurt-Maple Dressing
Strawberry & blueberry parfaits?
Home brew & wine - probably a dry Rose' early and a Grenache with dinner

Still developing the menu ~ depends what inspires me from the farmer's market.

I am hanging out with you all, if i could...

John Adams wrote that the Fourth of July "...ought to be celebrated by pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires, and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other..."

Have to give these guys credit.  They thought big and succeeded where a lot would have failed.

I'm going to celebrate the 4th of July, the way the American forefathers did.
Kidnapping and abusing black people.

Kidding is not the right word.  They acquired the unwanted rabble from African tribe conflicts.

Actually the Europeans had dropped by Africa just to see the sights.

The darkies snuck onto the ships as stow-aways and weren't detected until arrival in the new world.

They were put to work in order to pay for their passage, and had to be forced off the plantations after General Lee whipped Grant's ass at Appomattox.
