To really appreciate good acting or a good actor you have to be in the vicinity when they become someone else other than who they actually are.

It's difficult to explain but it is amazing if you ever get the opportunity to stand beside the camera when a good actor has a difficult to scene to shoot and 'becomes' that someone he actually ain't.

Good actors are rarely appreciated unless you know that actor and watch him become someone else who is entirely different while that camera is rolling.

Daniel Day Lewis and Meryl Streep are the best male and female actors today. Lewis needs to take his time between roles, while Streep somehow manages to churn them out. I can understand Lewis' results because of his total dedication to his roles, but have no idea how Streep does what she does.

Bad acting is easy and prevalent. I am a bad actor myself. I keep learning and get better at guiding others, yet I'm unable to improve myself. I'm always self-conscious. Good acting is both hard and rare. Being completely truthful and in the moment is what every actor chases.
