Bomb threat caller said he had explosives, hostages

A male caller contacted dispatchers at 5:46 a.m. Wednesday, saying he was at the call center at 625 South Stratford Drive with a bomb. The caller demanded money, Lt. Jamie Leslie of the Meridian Police Department said.
“He made four total phone calls, the last call indicating that he had hostages and he was shooting them,” Leslie said. Police descended rapidly on the building and found nothing amiss, Leslie said. He classified the calls as a false threat. Employees were unaware of the threats until police arrived. Police searched the buildings with a bomb-sniffing dog and found nothing out of the ordinary, Leslie said.
“We checked the exterior of the building and all the cars in the parking lot as a precautionary measure,” he said. Police were on scene until 8 a.m. Leslie said police were working to identify the caller. “We’ve identified the number that the call came from, and our detectives are working to identify the suspect,” he said.
