Anderson has pulled that shit in his last few fights, all his opponent needed to do was overreach with the punches and he would tag him.

Thats exactly what happened here.

Well, seeing as how he held that title for 9 years with 16 successful title defenses...those mind games seem to work.

I think its not clowning but a strategy....but he is 38 years old so he apparantly has lost a step in fighting......still the best the UFC has ever put out

Hes not lost a step, his speed was unbelievable at times but no excuses for him. He deserved that. Well within striking range of a man that didnt fear him and was willing to throw, he might as well have offered him his chin. A focused Silva IMO would KO Weidman inside 1 round, but i dont know if he has that aggression anymore, a'la GSP's rematch for the title. I also firmly believe Vitor would have beaten him in a much more violent manner this time round and i think he'll beat Chris if they face off.

He took a dive for a big rematch payday.  It's done all the time on fighters looking to retire. ::)

Sad thing is that Anderson could have ended that fight at will in the 2 nd round.

The first round did not suggest this at all and he didn't display Fuck all in the second round to back this up either.

10 defences Vince, remember he fought at LHW a few times during his streak and the Lutter fight was not for the title.

Anderson has not fought what i'd call consistently great opposition in the UFC, not his fault as he can only fight whomever they match him up with. Okami is NOT a HOF fighter, hes OK in a so so division. Leites & Cote are a joke at that level, Nate really isnt so great and Rich was strong in a pathetic MW lineup. Maia has changed his style and should have given Silva more problems than he did, and Chael had him in the bag but lost again to the triangle.

Of all the people he faced i expected Vitor to dispose of him comfortably, and if they fight again i stay true to that prediction. Hendo didnt represent himself as well as he could have but, ultimately, he lost to Rampage & Shields around that time too.

Essentially i have seen better records for fighters that arent even  discussed anymore, but his skillset still makes him a valid choice for best in the world.

Bindair what I am referring to is the fact that silva was tagging Chris at will in the 2 nd and Chris was missing most of his punches and had his takedown easily stuffed by Anderson.. If silva wouldn't have screwed around that fight wasn't going past two or three.. Silva threw that away more than Chris won it..

Congrats to Weidman!

Anderson Silva is obviously a good fighter, but I could see this coming. His astronomical ego finally got the better of him. Not a very smart fighter.  Very satisfying to see him knocked the fuck out.

Joe was right at the end. There is NO place for that in fighting. Kids, do NOT try this at home. Learn the basics. Stick to them for life. NONE of these Ali, Roy, etc., clown games.

people say ali was the greatest, i dont think so , ali's style had him eating heavy punches all during the fight, he liked moving but much of it was unecessary, he took way too many hits

Silva was out. His heart never seemed in it. He seemed tired. Just like Matt Hughes was.

Why didn't he just let Weidman finish him with the knee bar or heel hook in the first round?

Be much easier don't you think than getting iced... ::)
