If the job doesn't work out for you then you can quit within a certain amount of time and get unemployment. Friend of mine on unemployment did that recently.

Tough it out and then see how you feel. First few days in any job are shite, shit, even first few weeks/months. Everything is new, unfamiliar people and location and yet to see a payment into your bank account. I remember starting in courts and hating everything. The journey to Dublin, the tram to courts infested with heroin addicts, the mindless filing of applications/orders (far removed from the high brow shit you learn in uni), the clothes I had to wear... everything was shit and strange.

Soon you grow into it, find friends, become familiar with the building and location etc. If you still hate it then reconsider your circumstances.

Hoping the company has ties to foreign security and that he's a double agent or something. Or may a jedi. Or a double agent who is a jedi...that plays baseball for Cuban national team, and sometimes uses the force to his advantage on field, even though all his training tells him it's wrong....but the allure of MLB and escaping a third world communist regime is too strong, and he can make us feel the internal conflict.

Change your schedule. Come in a hour earlier and leave an hour sooner. In most cities that solves the commuting issue.....work around rush hour.

Workplace will be quieter, you'll be more efficient and can have time to yourself before the unwashed masses arrive.

My commute time dropped by 80% when I did this.

anabol, can you begin working from home, suddenly become self-employed, immediately move closer to your job or quit your job and live off savings for awhile while you search?

I'm going to assume the answers are "no", "no", "slight possibility" and "for a short time". That said, I would suggest changing your schedule to an earlier one.
