A "slave" housholder escaped and went to the police. I was just watching a show called "one perogie at a time" and it was all about how slavery of Ukranian peoples are still taking place. We all know Ukranians have been slaves all through history. Infact... the word slave comes from "slavic" But it's still going on... and thousands of Ukranians... esp... women remain slaves. Some more crazy facts are: Less than 100 years ago Ukranians were still considered a slave by "law" in Canada. Even though there was no slavery in Canada... Ukranians were not so lucky. Ukranians in Canada were also rounded up and put into slave labour camps in Canada as well. There is a memorial in Toronto's West end for Ukranian people.
