My arms at their largest were over 18" pumped! I have some old contest pictures that I will post once I find them!

They are packed away in a box! I have to find them! Had a flood in the house and are still unpacking things that were stored! As soon as I find them I will post them!

Its OK if the arms dont look 18, you can blame the shrinkage on the after effects of the floodwater on the pics.

Done for 7 reps. Very natural. Have no idea what I could have done gassed - never tried.

I weighed 255 at the time. A nice, chubby, permabulk football 255. Not very pretty. Thought being strong was boss. I was wrong. Turns out girls really aren't that impressed with how often you can bench 315. The only people who cared were the other guys I bounced with at the bar, and the guys on the team. None were sufficient to replace female attention.

Note: I now rarely bench over 135, and do sets of super slomo reps totalling about 50 per set. Pecs have never been better, shoulders are healthier. Girls say they like the pecs. Mission accomplished. I tried 315 a few weeks ago to see what I could do for shits and giggles. Did 3 reps. Felt like shoulders would explode. Not natural.

Yeah, definitely.  315x3 @ 167 is a very good lift, particularly for a natural.  I couldn't even single 315 until I was 210+ IIRC, but in fairness to younger me, I knew sweet-fuck-all about how to train for a 1RM.  I figured if I could do 2XX for Y number of strict reps, 315 should be paper, LOL.

I hate getting old, but I can't say I miss that teenaged naivety :)

Nattys or "Nattys"?

(says the Natty that is 315 x 0)

I'm really not completely sure. I think I have my form down pretty tight; I've read a good deal on that much but I think I just had my right elbow flared out a bit too much and it put too much stress on my right upper pec. I generally use a narrower grip and incorporate more shoulder and tricep so perhaps on that set I exposed a weak point in my chest?

I didn't have a spotter but I felt confident enough to bring it down for that last rep. For a split second I was a little scared that I wouldn't be able to get the weight back up but I managed with a slight bit of pain.

For the next couple weeks any sort of utilization of that right pec was uncomfortable when opening a heavy door or pushing something around but it just gradually got better so I doubt it was anything really significant.

Fack! This sounds exactly like what happened to me when I was experimenting with those Vince Gironda bench presses to the neck (about 10 years ago,  I guess) except I ignored that shit (it was loud but only hurt a little) and then, the next chest workout, it happened again. Since then my shoulder will sometimes sort of "come out" so that it's impossible for me to raise my arm even to shoulder level without first using my other hand to pull my bad arm up and then, if I extended my bad arm hard and rotate it inwardly, it will pop back in and be OK.  This still occurs to this day.  It's much less of a problem when my back and rear shoulders are strong (trained), btw.  I still cannot do a flat BB bench press. :'( :'( :'(

but that doesn't just mean adding weight to the bar chief

it can also come from working harder faster ie. adding more reps, taking less time btw sets, doing advanced training techniques like drop sets, etc

it's all about PROGRESS, and adding weight to the bar is only one form of progress

so let me ask you this stud, if you do the same thing over and over again can you/do you make progress?
