talking loud on the phone = psychological
« on: July 19, 2013, 03:30:39 PM »
I was reading something about how in the old days (long before cell phone) some vets coming home from the war... used to walk around with a radio and talk into the radio. The thing is there was no one on the other side. Well... this is what people are doing with cell phones nowadays. I see it all the time. I have lost my mind I think... because I want to start doing it. I was thinking of getting on the bus... busses are packed at rush hour. And saying "yeah, that guys a creepy ass cracka" then see what peoples' reactions are.

A cell phone is the most anti-social invention ever... especially since texting came along.

Narcissistic as hell, very distracting and very fucking annoying.  80% of the people I see training at the gym are looking at it in between sets.  How sad.

I do get tired of people talking loudly on phones in places like restaurants. If someone is texting or doing whatever bullshit online, it isn't intrusive.

It seems to me that many that do the loud shit are older people with old phones and are just amazed that you can talk to someone through "the air".  ;D

You should write a script first...And then follow the script to a T...Pretend you're acting. Get someone to videotape it and see how it pans out...

Or some people talk louder when they can't hear the other person on the line. If their line is quiet, doesn't mean you have to over compensate ... Especially in a restaurant :)

I think the talking louder thing can happen to just about anybody if the connection is frustrating. It's just that people need to catch themselves doing it, and STFU.

Like I said, I see older people being way more offensive than anyone from a teenager to those in their 40's or 50's. Ringers always topped out, will talk loudly for ten minutes about nothing instead of going outside, or just calling back later.

There has to be a direct correlation between the amount of smartphones and social interaction.

The more smartphones (and social media), the less social interaction in real life.

Anyone know of any studies or articles reporting this?

This leads to more depression I think.

I find smartphones simply awesome.

The damn things are so jam packed with technology and useful apps/services. It's a convenient life saver if you don't take things for granted.
