Totally bogus.

If that side of his arm is 9", the other side is 9".  That arm is no more than 20 or 21".

Yes, that is true in the 2D picture, where it is completely flat. On the other side, if diameter is 9 inches, it doesn't mean that circumference will be 18 inches. Everybody besides a few random imbecile's know this.

No, but he did have one of the biggest armpit sweat stains.

That pic was way way after his prime.

I've no idea. The guy competed at one small local show in Germany more than a decade ago, and everyone said that's gonna be the next Markus Ruhl. After that he was never seen on stage again. lol

Greg is alive and doing OK as I understand it.  I wouldn't go so far as to say he's "great" or somesuch thing, but he's definitely healthier and happier than many people predicted he might be circa 2010 or later :)

Greg is also a modest man from everything I've gathered.  He knew he looked terrible at that ASC, yet he never blamed Chad Nichols for bogus advice; Greg knew that he was a good gym bodybuilder in the height of the offseason and an OK champ against a meager field -- but a decent IFBB pro?  He knew that simply wasn't in the cards but sponsors pressured him to compete.  How could he say no to that?  The man's got a family and has to make money, no?

But to reverse gears, I have also heard that everyone who stood next to Greg at his biggest looked just tiny by comparison, then-new Mr. O Ronnie and a young Ruehl included.  Greg was anything but "pretty" but, once upon a time, he was plenty big enough to earn his own zipcode.

My sticking point with the big fella is that training video and his Smith inclines.  It's painfully obvious to even a myopic moron that, after struggling with maybe 4 plates/side, the subsequent sets we saw with more plates were clearly recycled footage.

IF Greg couldn't actually Smith incline 5 PPS for reps, that IS pathetic given his sheer size and weight.

And, of course, that was the same video in which he said something corny about "feeling the Acetabolan," or whatever that swill was called, "kicking in."  Oy, fuckin' vey :)

I've tried to match up head size to get an accurate comparison.  That guy's arm is huge,  but no 26-1/2".  I think Eddie has an edge on him.

That being said,  I think Eddie and Marko Savolainen were the two men with the world's largest, true muscular arms, ever.

You've seen these before,  but here is Marko 6 weeks out from the 97 Finnish Grand Prix and the night of the show.

I ate lunch with Greg and his then-friend Paul Gardiner (chief MuscleTech thief) when I was an editor at MuscleMag. At this time, mid-'90s, Kovacs was quite simply GIGANTIC. Hovering (bad choice of word, I guess) just under 400 pounds and reasonably hard (although also with an obscene protruding gut).

Believe me, I have stood in the company of the world's largest muscular men (Dillett, Yates, Kaz, Coleman, Francois, Levrone, etc.) and Greg, in the offseason, was the single largest I had seen and have yet to see. Ungodly.

Him, Sonbaty and myself worked out together once at a gym in Toronto and Nasser was a rock-solid 315 (he posed in the change room ... no homo). Kovacs dwarfed him in sheer bulk and overpowering size. We ate at a restaurant during that visit and the staff had to grab a VERY thick wooden bench from the entrance for the two to sit on during our meals. The regular chairs were neither strong enough nor big enough for each (when Kovacs tried sitting on one, it loudly "groaned" from the stress and was clearly about to break without even his full weight). That's when the bench was found and brought in.

As far as his infamous strength, well, he was nowhere near the strength (always just ludicrous, just like Muscletech's supplement efficacy claims) bantered about in all those idiotic MuscleTech ads, but he was a very powerful man, regardless. His drug use and monstrous bulk assured that.

I like Greg and know for a fact that he deserves a big cheque from Gardiner for one or two million for what he helped that company become. MuscleTech is founded on lies, greed and horseshit. In a strange way, Kovacs was the only "cool" thing about the company's beginnings.

He was a freak beyond freak.

What could he blame Chad for?  Got Greg in the best condition he had been in, in years.  Remember how bad Kovacs looked at the 2001 NOC.
