Yeah a gun is probably better, but you had better be fast with it.

Wortless, crock or shark would snap you without any warnings  8)
And who swim/surf with a rifle  8)

It was a Dolphin.

Looked like a shark fin to me. It did scare the cramp out of me and I didn't stick around to make sure. I suppose it's possible though.

I actually swim with an M16A2 rifle all the time.  Attached to the barrel is an Ontario OKC 3S bayonet.  Sharks are scared shitless when they see me coming.

I've had a few encounters and they've been mostly while spearfishing. A few sand sharks and one smallish (6') tiger shark. I've had to poke a small 3' sand shark twice with my spear gun as he wouldn't leave me alone and was trying to go after my fish on the stringer. Most sharks will turn around and swim away.

The biggest shark I've seen is a hammerhead and he was at least 12' and was playing around with half of what looked like a 100lb tarpon. I couldn't imagine being in the water with that shark. It was a surreal moment watching him swim around the boat and not scared at all.

12' Hammerhead surprising I did't know they got that big. Shows you what I know. I have heard the bull sharks are some of the worst and aggressive a couple of people I know have encountered them.

Probably why I haven't been eaten yet.  I just lay on my back floating looking up at the sky with the water around my ears, so that it blocks out the outside world.

I don't think the yanks can comprehend how large our salties get.  They are more protected here than the average aussie bloke.   ;D

You've got a job to do then.  Give us all something to watch instead of reading the same threads about how Vince hates Arnold.

The snakes are friendly here. People who are snakes are the ones to be wary of.
