Tyson V Foreman
« on: August 04, 2013, 11:06:25 AM »

I dont get how people pull Foreman Frazier out of there asses. Tyson was bigger, stronger a hell of a lot faster than Frazier. Slow Foreman wouldnt land and Tyson would swarm him. Tyson KO 5

Foreman in his prime would've given Tyson trouble. He hit like a truck, had more reach, and a pretty good chin.

Foreman would have wrecked Tyson. Tyson would not have scared Big George, George's jab is underrated , his punches were every bit as hard as Iron Mike's. Mike would have come at George and gotten his head knocked off. I know he had good defense, bob and weave peekaboo ... but George would have put Mike down.

I think Smokin Joe would have gotten Tyson also. Put Tyson in the 70's with Ali, Foreman, Shavers, Lyle, Norton, Frazier, prime Holmes and Mike takes a beating .

Foreman was no pussy, watch his fight against someone like Ron Lyle. George was a big, tall fighter who was aggressive and had awesome power. He wasn't afraid to bring the fight to a boxer like Tyson. Tyson might out point him, but Foreman was his match or better physically.

Frazier vs Tyson is interesting, physically they are a much closer match. This one hinges on Tyson being able to take Frazier out in the first half of the fight. After that Joe has an edge in stamina and plain old heart. Joe took some ass whippings and still showed up in the later rounds.

foreman actually has the highest ko percentage of any hw champion in history,

also when he made his comeback in the 90''s  he was never knocked down once.   foreman in his prime was a killer.

guy is doing much better financially than tyson as well,  in fact foreman has more money then any boxer in the world, he made a shitload of money from that grill

You are correct.  Mike could have fought George during George's second career.  Mike and his people wanted no part of Big George.  The George of the 70's?  Forget about it.  If Ali hadn't beaten George, I'm not sure if and when somebody would have.  Maybe Larry Holmes in the late 70's?  Even that is debatable and Larry Holmes is my favorite heavyweight of all time.

Iron Mike was untouchable in HIS era, that's all we know for sure.

Obviously it could go either way if he fought any of the 70's HW legends, but I personally think he would have the most trouble with George. He would be just as frustrated after a few rounds as he was with Holyfield's size/headbutts, but this time it would be frustration at why George is taking Mikes best upper cuts and still moving forward.

I'm pretty much a fan of Tyson as he was really a one-of-a kind HW, being short, fast, great defense and would kill you once in the box. But frankly, he was at his best when Kevin Rooney was around and he didn't box so many greats at the time: Holmes was way over-the-hill (I expected him to get KOd in the 1st round), Tony Tucker gave him a hard time (with a broken hand) and finally things collapsed. I'd think a prime Holmes (way lighter and faster) would have already given Tyson some trouble.
Those '70s HW will forever be remembered because the field was much greater: Ellis, Quarry, Bonavena, Ron Lyle,  Ken Norton then guys like Ernie Shavers, Cooney, etc....
