Spooky abandoned town...
« on: August 06, 2013, 01:00:23 PM »
This is 3.5 hours driving distance. I'm bringing my weapon, a canteen, a Knife and some MREs and I'm gonna check this place out!  During the day of course.

Souvenirs will be collected if truly abandoned. Video and pics to follow if I survive. There are other videos. Still abandoned.

I have no clue what that means. I don't know either of these places. In researching, I see we (Nevadens) have several ghost towns and semi ghost towns. Looks like i have some new stuff to explore!

Ghost towns that date back to when? They could be remnants of gold rush settlements.

That's what they are in some cases, yes.

Yes, El Diablo, that's what makes it even more fun. But if no one is there as in the case of this ghost town. Even if there's only 5 people. It's still not nearly enough for 1 trained Wiggs.  :-*

Stupid video.  I saw a lot of cars with current plates in that video.  So what if people were not outside.  Its not like there is much to do in that town anyways.

People are morons.

One report puts the population of Silver Peak at around a 100 or so, with industry being tied to mining(mainly Lithium now), military testing, and long haul trucking. So it's easy to see why there was little going on.

Alkali Springs never had a huge population, it was a Hot Spring and vacation area meant to serve the miners and citizens of the surrounding towns.

The heyday of the towns in that video seems to be 1900 - 1910, they were all but played out by the end of WWI.

Looks like the blacks have taken over the town. That white's all abandoned their pickups and trailers. The blacks were all in hidding because they thought that was a cop car. Its like the desert version of Detroit.

Wiggs,

I always thought those "towns" were used for military training. I figured tests involving small explosions and simulations were held there.

Reminds me of the movie the Hills Have Eyes II..

Yes Rep, I agree on both. I may have to ask some buddies or an uncle because I'm fucked if my car dies. I'll die out of sheer terror in that place at night. lololol. We have tons of old mine shafts also from the gold and silver rush days. Nevada still number 2 in Silver deposits and I believe number 1 in Gold in the states!

There are some in Pennsylvania that are abandoned after coal fires under ground. One still has around seven or so people living in it, looks like fun.
