Happens to me quite a bit. Usually there's some hater who starts something when they see the muscles, the $500 jeans, the Corvette, etc. So when I go to put them in their place they sometimes try to come at me, but my stripper girlfriends hold me back and save me from having to deliver a beatdown.

I once saw the exact scenario you just mentioned take place in Times Square. A big, tough guy wanted to fight a smaller guy, because the smaller guy was being rude (trying to flirt with the big, tough guy's girl as they waited in line for movie tickets).

They started to posture up, both yelling at each other, while the girl stood in the middle of them, pushing back her big boyfriend. Well, you know how tough that guy was? He was so tough, that in order to get to the little guy, in a swoop of rage, he knocked out his girlfriend (punched her in the face with a solid right hook) and then went straight at the little guy and beat the living shit out of him too.

Safe to say, that big guy probably went home feeling proud of himself.

You just never know what the other guy is carrying. Here in New York City, we have too many tough guys with guns strapped to their hips.

If I am out and about, I typically give everyone the right of way in the streets. If some "tough" guy wants to skip the line somewhere or needs to get in front of me, I just let him go on his merry way.

If my loved ones where placed in danger, I would first talk to the person starting trouble, see if I can defuse the situation and, in the meantime, gesture for them to slowly (not to obvious) walk away from the spot. Then, if after talking it out a little and maybe trying to spark a laugh or two in the process he still doesn't budge, I would then take as close of a look as I can to see if he has a weapon of some sort (which you can never be too sure of) and if he still persists I "might" fight him. The vast majority of times, the person in front of me is more terrified of fighting than they are tough (they essentially try to call your bluff with the tough guy tactics - scream, puff up their chest, wave their arms around and do random fist pumps) and when they notice that I am relatively friendly and not interested in their spiel, they typically walk away screaming obscenities like, "Fuck you faggot, cock sucking fairy, ass licker OR, my favorite one, I thought so faggot".

Truth be told, I'd much rather they call me a few derogatory terms as they walk away than to risk walking away with any bodily harm to me or the family, a probable arrest or, worst of all, damaging a nice suit from Tom Ford.

I had an interesting altercation one time with an ex. We had been out to a pub crawl for hours. As we were waling home (live close by), this girl bumped into my ex.

It was simply an accident. But the old lady flipped out and I had to physically restrain her form starting shit up with her screaming, etc. I said sorry to the girl and her boyfriend. So my ex seemingly calms down, and we cross the street with me watching her closely and holding her arm.

So she starts saying let me go I'm cool. So I do. In an instant she runs back across the street and beats this chick down pretty badly.

The boyfriend doesn't like this a bit. He was a pretty thick type dude. I was a little bigger, but I see no need to fight with so many people around, and I'm on court supervision anyway. He's yelling control your bitch and stuff like that. I was like she just tricked me bro.

Dude rips his shirt off and is like let's do it. I wanted no part of this because I had done nothing.

Dude takes a couple hard swings at me which I duck and dodge. Does get a light shot in on the back of my head. Probably should have just popped him, but way too many witnesses and the supervision deal. Didn't need to go to jail.

My ex then goes after him. Women can be crazy as hell too.
