Man that's always a tough one to take. There was a kid in Anaheim a couple of weeks ago that also died.

Why wasnt an ambulance stationed there at the football game?  Isn't that standard?

I think a standby Ambu runs about 1200-1500 now.  With school cuts and kids signing waivers, I'm sure schools can get away with 911. Basically you need someone with BLS training. If it's neck related, you can do CPR without a chin lift, damaging the neck further.

It might be cheaper for schools to look into hiring an ER or Ortho Surg Nurse for 2-3 hrs for $120 or so. A PA might be possible.  Ambu companies are FOR PROFIT!

He broke his neck....ambulance would not have made much of a difference.  He was dead within a few minutes.

I feel terrible when I see things like this happen.

However, I am perplexed when I see comments such as:  "He died doing what he loved."

At 16, was he really making a knowing and voluntary "choice"?

Yes, that comment is such a silly one "He died doing what he loved"

How do they know that? He could have done it via peer-pressure, parents forcing him etc

You don't know much at such a young age. What you "loved" at 13 is not always the same at 35 etc
