i think its great. mens physique is more about 'body building' than competitve bodybuilding. this niche is needed. a healthy look with respectable size.

I showed a pic of Jalali from the NPC Europa.  Clearly an amateur contest.  In previous discussions I showed the winners of the NPC USA, again amateur.

Dickerson was pro by 1973, Robinson by 1976, Columbu by 1972, Mentzer 1979 (however the pic is probably from later)

amateurs were not allowed to stand on stage with pros without the risk of loosing their amateur status.  that is why there would be an intermission between an amateur contest and a pro contest.  (true well into the 70s)
