You think so? No, America would be a better place if some old school qualities were brought back. Like respect for father and mother, respect for family, the community...instead of asking for handouts. And once, Asians, like all others that come (Africans, Euros, Latinos) here get "Americanized"--respect for family goes out the door, and the "I want to do what I want to do" comes in.
Remember what JFK said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for country"?

i grew up in an Asian neighborhood, Linda Vista in San Diego, and i didn't have any Asian friends who got food stamps or any kind of gov't assistance... even 2nd generation family's.
the only assistance they got was #1 sponsorship from a family in the US when they left Vietnam (or laos, or Cambodia) so when they arrived in the US they'd have somewhere to settle and start their life.... and #2 low intrest gov't business loan.
most my friends were viet, lao, Chinese, hmong, ect... and their parents worked very hard... usually at their own business to provide for the kids/wife. whether it was as a tailor/seamstress, or a Laundromat, nail salon, or landscaping business, they worked long, long hours usually 7 days a week and that work ethic was instilled in their children..... and you did NOT do anything to bring shame on the family. i can name dozens... literally dozens of familys who's father (& sometimes mother) worked their asses off in their own business (because like most of us with our own businesses, who else would hire us?) and save and invest and end up owning 2-5 houses that they'd rent out until the children got married and moved into them. It's rare to see white kids or black kids with parents like that these days... or any American kids for that matter...
