do you not see the cases where they maul their own owners?  didnt a girl get mauled by her two pitbulls in the house several months ago?  i don't think they can be fully domesticated.  fuck, go get a wild dog and get it over with.

Some would say the same thing about certsin people. ;)

Btw, I'm in Aurora right now, you want a souvenir? :D

pit bulls are different - they have the locking jaws like vice grips.  maybe they aren't inherently more aggressive but... once they chomp, there's no letting go.

I don't think theyre like any other dog  I have a friend in Dominican Republic that trains  them to fight ( I don't agree with such cruelty) and he says that they are very aggressive towards other pitbulls only...you can touch/slap them punch, kick them and they won't attack back  as long as youre human  you can even get in the middle of the fight when one dog is seriously injured and neither dog would bite you.....

so I think its a bit more complicated than most think.

Wooossshhhhhhhhhhh

fuck with me mean if somebody broke into the house or try to attack me, now pitbulls are like kids in a way that some people can control their kids while some people cant, if i look at my pitbull with a stern look and say stop in a serious voice he chills right away, so if you have a soft personality i would recomend that you get a chiwawa.

Poor dogs. Probably the worse thing to happen to them is that they became the urban dog of choice during the 80's. If that never happened you wouldn't see the bad name the breed has today. You can look up dog incidents, etc.... through the eras and the little fellas never show up till the start of the 80's in any real way. That also corresponds with them becoming a disposable status symbol among some, instead of actually caring for and about the dogs, it became how big and mean can I get this thing before I move on to the next thing.

Looks pretty harmless to me. After he bites it should be easy to get him to open his jaws.

These threads never end well.

I have two Purebred APBT's ~ a Blue and a Fawn

I raised them from itty-bitty pups

They don't know hate. Hate is taught.

They know unconditional love. It's inherent in their nature.

Hatred can be taught to animals or people, enough so that you may decide to generalize and judge whole groups of animals or people.

Getting into a pissing-match over Pits though is nothing short of a pointless effort in futility ~

Noone will ever come together and hardly anyone will stay on the fence.

Every large dog breed that has the ability to kill a large human being should need a license to own...They should also have to have a min/of a million dollar liability insurance on said dog...That ought to help eliminate a good chunk of irresponsible owners...Dog breeders who sell large dogs to unlicensed individuals should get a 10 year mandatory sentence...

Regardless...they are an "ugly breed" and have a vicious look about them.  Owners have an insecurity about themselves and think that owning a pit will give them the "fear" they so hopelessly need from others.  At least an ugly azz Bulldog is known to be a "lazy" breed.... ::)

It's true. The locking jaw theory is B.S and so is the supposed measurement of contraction.

The dogs have large heads and mouths with small bodies.

Jaws no functionally different than any other dog.

I can't stand getting sucked into these threads. They can go on for days while we all revel and wallow in stupidity and ignorance.

Got a Pit? Fine. Don't have one? STFU. YOU DON'T KNOW WTF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT (which is common here)

All you know is what you've *heard* ~ which is also very common here.

So many dogs have to do their time in the shitter. Once it was German Shepards, then it was Dobermans, then Chows.... on and on it goes.

These kinds of threads are like single men trying to tell fathers how to raise their children. No empirical data. No experience. Only what you've "heard"

Get it? Got it? Good.

Go to sleep and think of something else controversial to start the next day.

How about "Nobody has a Christmas Tree but everyone has shredded glutes?"

I know: Read this month's MD and see if you can top all the stupid questions in this month's edition.

Great post had the breed my whole life, until they were outlawed now have  two American staffies very similar in their nature, These dogs love people, they need to be socialised with other dogs, but their natural instinct is not hate and aggression, problem with the breed is every wanna be gangster biker wants the dog for its intimidating look, the breed cant help if it attracts the worst type of people as owners.

Pitbulls and Rottweilers top the kill-stats in the US: http://dogbitelaw.com/images/pdf/breeds-causing-DBRFs.pdf

Does this mean the dogs "hate" or are "evil"? Of course not. Rather than blame the dogs, one should blame the unholy meathead-powerful dog dyad.

That pit is too big, and look at it's front legs...they are too splayed apart. This dog is not athletic and just waddles about. And probably has breathing issues. Dogs like this are bred for the "look", but are not functional, much like bbers.

Wonder how that compares to the top kill stats for humans? Yet we're not calling for a ban on any one race.
