The idea of Syria as a regional oil transit hub is nothing new, thanks to its situation between Europe and major producing areas in the Persian Gulf and Caspian Sea. There is already one major transnational gas pipeline passing through Syria, the Arab Gas Pipeline (AGP) from Egypt to the Lebanese port of Tripoli.

In 2009, recognizing that the heady days of Syrian oil production in the 1980s were long gone and that the sector’s future lay in transit, Assad announced a ‘four seas strategy’ aimed at transforming the country into a regional hub for oil transportation between the Persian Gulf and the Black, Caspian and Mediterranean seas. He began taking steps to realize the country’s transit-center potential and bring the four seas strategy closer to reality.

superior military my ass the US hasn't won any war, it just destroyed countries but it didn't win shit. People with ak47s are winning against America's 'super military'.

This is just garbage, the whole world has been turned into turmoil because of American greed. And then we'll have ww3... great.. we're all screwed.

Blame it on the mozzlems but waaait who is the one starting all the wars, all the violence, all the invsaions, who is the biggest maker of weapons, biggest seller of weapons. There's little to be said. The US is on the side of evil and the whole world knows it except most US citizens themselves.

The US is crumbling slowly but surely that's what's for sure. 17 trillion dollars of debt and growing.. yeah, you're 'rich' and 'successful'. Bringing the whole world down.

Syrians have been fighting and have started winning against Assad. Why the sudden change of heart? Just an opportunity.

The US doesn't give a shit, only gives a shit about it's own political interests which are always against the local people and that's why the rest of the world hates the US. Double standards, greed, hypocricy.

Look at Egypt, a complete turn around the revolution destroyed, the same kind of filth military dictatorship reinstalled in the interests of the US and Israel.

The world knows what's up. US and Israel with their noses up, but it won't last.

Russia sucks too, and play its own dirty games.. in the end it's innoscent people who suffer and the whole world is going to suffer.

The one thing I'm concerned with more than anything else is asshole american troops using depleted uranium I don't care if they themselves get cancer, good for them, but the civillians will suffer. The chemical waste left behind has destroyed Kosovo/Serbia, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan and now will do the same in Syria.

Rise in cancers, birth defects, deformities, abnormalities, etc... it's all well documented... that's the saddest part of all.

I care more about the contents of lizard shit than I care about America, but I'd rather have them as the 800lbs gorilla than a Muslim hellhole being the number one super power.

The problem is America will turn Syria into a Muslim hell hole.  Assad's regime was fairly progressive by Mid East standards.

Russia has just sent their most advanced anti-ship missles to syria. what do you think would happen if images of sinking us navel vessels were to come flashincg across our television screens? When the us attacks syria, there is a very good chance that syria and iran will attack israel.

these 2 guys cant stand eachother look at the body language in this video, putin is a stud though

The Nuclear fallout could be good for gains, a few extra pecs may grow and I can triple my bench.

The Russian Bear is stronger and more powerful than it has ever been before.  Sadly, most Americans don’t understand this.  They still think of Russia as an “ex-superpower” that was rendered almost irrelevant when the Cold War ended.  And yes, when the Cold War ended Russia was in rough shape.  I got the chance to go over there in the early nineties, and at the time Russia was an economic disaster zone.  Russian currency was so worthless that I joked that I could go exchange a 20 dollar bill and buy the Kremlin.  But since that time Russia has roared back to life.  Once Vladimir Putin became president, the Russian economy started to grow very rapidly.  Today, Russia is an economic powerhouse that is blessed with an abundance of natural resources.  Their debt to GDP ratio is extremely small, they actually run a trade surplus every year, and they have the second most powerful military on the entire planet.  Anyone that underestimates Russia at this point is making a huge mistake.  The Russian Bear is back, and today it is a more formidable adversary than it ever was at any point during the Cold War.
Just check out the following statistics.  The following are 18 signs that Russia is rapidly catching up to the United States…
#1 Russia produces more oil than anyone else on the planet.  The United States is in third place.
#2 Russia is the number two oil exporter in the world.  The United States is forced to import more oil than anyone else in the world.
#3 Russia produces more natural gas than anyone else on the planet.  The United States is in second place.
#4 Today, Russia supplies 34 percent of Europe’s natural gas needs.
#5 The United States has a debt to GDP ratio of 101 percent.  Russia has a debt to GDP ratio of about 8 percent.
#6 The United States had a trade deficit of more than half a trillion dollars last year.  Russia consistently runs a large trade surplus.
#7 The United States has an unemployment rate of 7.4 percent.  Russia has an unemployment rate of 5.4 percent.
#8 Since Vladimir Putin first became president of Russia, the Russian economy has grown 30% in 2000 to 14% in 2008.
#9 According to Bloomberg, Russia has added 570 metric tons of gold to their reserves over the past decade.  In the United States, nobody seems to be quite sure how much gold the Federal Reserve actually has left.
#10 Moscow is the second most expensive city in the world.  Meanwhile, the United States actually has the unfriendliest city in the world (Newark, New Jersey).
#11 More billionaires live in Moscow than in any other city on the globe.
#12 The Moscow metro system completely outclasses the subway systems in Washington D.C. and New York City.
#13 The United States has the most powerful military on the planet, but Russia is in second place.
#14 Russia has introduced a new “near silent” nuclear submarine which is far more quiet than anything the U.S. has…

The Borey Class submarine, dubbed Vladimir Monomakh, has a next generation nuclear reactor, can dive deeper than 1,200 feet, and carries up to 20 nuclear intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM).
Each of these “Bulava” ICBM’s can carry ten detachable MIRV warheads, what they call “re-entry vehicles,” capable of delivering 150 kiloton yields per warhead
#15 While Barack Obama is neutering the U.S. strategic nuclear arsenal, Vladimir Putin is working hard to modernize Russian nuclear forces.
#16 Russian missile forces will hold more than 200 drills during the second half of 2013.
#17 Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin made headlines all over the world when he climbed into the cockpit of Russia’s new “fifth generation” fighter jet and announced that it was far superior to the F-22 Raptor.
#18 It is estimated that Russia has more spies inside the United States today than it did at any point during the Cold War.
Unfortunately, whenever I write an article about Russia I find that most people simply do not get it.  They will make statements such as “the Cold War is over” or “Russia is our friend” which show a complete and total lack of understanding of the current geopolitical situation.
Russia has been steadily building a stronger relationship with China, and collectively they represent the number one strategic threat to the United States.
Someday this will become abundantly clear to the American people.  Hopefully it will not be too late by the time they realize it.

WW3 can only occur when not only U.S. relations worsen with Russia, but also with China (and also become less dependent on them or China fails to meet market demands like right now)and when Russia's and China's militaries equal that of the U.S., another event i believe unfortunately is not that far away. I believe once WW3 starts, Russia will not jump into the war until they fear genomic interests are in jeopardy and have given the U.S. all warnings to defuse the conflict. It will start with Russia providing more missiles to Syria to pass on to Hezbollah, then Russian troops lined up on Iran's borders, then hjoint cyber attack with Ukraine on several Nato, EU, and U.S. computers, then missile/drone strikes in the Middle-East with will rapidly increase, Armania Russia's proxy will bomb western targets in Georgia and Azerbaijan while Russia, Ukraine and Belarus invade the two countries, stop exporting oil to the EU, which leads to the conclusion of multiple tactical nukes in the Middle-East and strategic forces against the U.S. Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan will have no option but to fight along side Russia. Nato troops will strom the middle-east wile canada will sell oil and weapons to the EU and Nato. China will be fighting a pacific war by hacking into Taiwan's, Japan's, and South Korea's computers while lining up missiles on its east coast. The U.S. and Chinese navy will come into conflict Near the Phillipenes, The U.S. will place nuclear missiles in Taiwan. China launches airstrikes on Guam, and takes down U.S. sattellites. India will fight for the allies because they will try to disable Chinese computers to stop any further escalation, while Pakistan will send missiles and troops in Persian uniform after attacking U.S. military installations in their country.
