That's the great thing about bodybuilding: there's a stage for almost anyone, from bikini to bodybuilding and from natural to enhanced. Even when it's not you're cup of tea, it's pretty sad that for the competitors and the public/schmoes, there almost isn't room for female bodybuilding at a high level, the Phoenix and a couple of other pro shows excluded.
Yes hormone abuse was ultimately down to these women's own volition but how much of it was peddled by the industry (judging panels, Joe Weider, sponsors, schmoes and basically anyone willing to cough up cash)? IMHO, they should've put the brakes on after the Cory Everson era...
At least in Denise's case, she revealed that Joe Weider told her that she needed to "getbig"

if she was to ever stand a chance of winning the 1993 Ms. O...of course on the day she flew from Cali to NY for the contest, she was informed that she was "too big" basically lost before the contest ever began. Denise hates Joe's guts thats for sure..
