OK - best you don't worry about though. You'll have to sift through; tort actions, stalking actions, criminal actions, transmission actions, etc. etc. A person who wants to lawyer up can come at one through different ways; it's like the game of chess. Until he makes a move you won't know your next move. So I wouldn't worry about it if I were you; we've all said stuff in the heat of the moment (another defense to certain actions).

You made it over the phone so it wasn't imminent, wasn't going to provide a reasonable apprehension of fear, it could have been conditional, could have been a threat of future harm.....no over act with the threat (tort, sometimes crim element)

Best you don't research on it and continue with your day. Searching for law is daunting, it'll screw with your workout, lol.

Depends on who 8r what you are threatening.

If you tell some one :

Im gonna kick your ass... not a crime.

However if you call them repeatedly and show up at their job. You will probably be arrested on some misdemeanor charge.

If you threaten to shoot up a movie theater again probably some disorderly conduct charge.

If you threaten the president. You are probably looking at federal time.

Kinda: it's criminal threats not terrorist threats (recent change).  You have to be threatened and be afraid of that threat. However, the criminal must be capable of carryIng out the threat too.  For example, a 100 lb downie can threaten to beat up  a 300 lb , no problem.

Also Max punishment is 3 years

Yep, people who kill you dont tend to warn you about it first.
Its like if you get stabbed, you very rarely see the knife beforehand.

eg. when someone is very angry they might want the other person to know whats coming

these are the type of people not to piss off

or it can just be a form of extreme trolling where it can be used to devastating effect
