I have faith that I can control my own actions. Everything will sort itself out when I die.

Control your actions, in what way?

I choose my path in life. I choose how I react to certain situations. Every person has this power.  A true god would value independent thinkers. Not sheep.

Absolute truth, right there.

Is it fair to say you generally attempt to control your actions with a consideration for good?

Humans have the most developed brain for a reason. Reason. We do not have to revert to caveman tactics to survive. The 10 commandments are powerful (not because they are the word of god) but because the are equivalent to a Letterman top 10. They are the 10 most obvious ways to be a civilized human being.

The first couple are about worshipping god and having no other idols you nitwit. It says nothing about rape, genocide, incest etc.

They are a shitty attempt by some stupid sheep herders.

I can't tell you about the 10 Commandments. The question of good, however, is the one thing in this world that I can be sure of.

So you do attempt to control your actions with a consideration of good, wouldn't you say?

What do you define as good? People's natural instincts are to procreate, love, and survive. Many outside factors dictate individual's rationale on life. I can only give you my opinion. Show respect and act humble. The nice guy may finish last, but he can die with dignity, and...............who knows what else  ;)

Good and bad are very clear; right and wrong, however, may be unclear. Would you disagree?

I also have this nice nugget (taken from my history thread on the general board) What do christians have to say about a group of people who got together to discuss: How can we make this religion make sense?

This council is proof that documents were doctored and distorted to fit an agenda. Who knows what was added or left out. It is proof positive that humans have controlled the religious propoganda.

The Council of Nicaea, the first ecumenical debate held by the early Christian church, concludes with the establishment of the doctrine of the Holy Trinity. Convened by Roman Emperor Constantine I in May, the council also deemed the Arian belief of Christ as inferior to God as heretical, thus resolving an early church crisis.

The controversy began when Arius, an Alexandrian priest, questioned the full divinity of Christ because, unlike God, Christ was born and had a beginning. What began as an academic theological debate spread to Christian congregations throughout the empire, threatening a schism in the early Christian church. Roman Emperor Constantine I, who converted to Christianity in 312, called bishops from all over his empire to resolve the crisis and urged the adoption of a new creed that would resolve the ambiguities between Christ and God.

Meeting at Nicaea in present-day Turkey, the council established the equality of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit in the Holy Trinity and asserted that only the Son became incarnate as Jesus Christ. The Arian leaders were subsequently banished from their churches for heresy. The Emperor Constantine presided over the opening of the council and contributed to the discussion.

I would disagree. You can strip good/bad and right/wrong to the very core. People can ultimately claim survival of the fittest for everything. Is killing a person different from squashing a roach? People will argue this. Human life means nothing to some people.

I will say, it could only be the truest message, that would have the most falsehoods attached to it.

Good-and-bad is the basic premise upon which right-and-wrong is spun. I'm sure you understand that, right?

Yes. That is supposedly what makes humans the top of the food chain. It is when you dig deeper, that you begin to wonder.

When you think of the times that you should have acted with goodness, but you did not act with goodness, how do you feel?

Selfish, spoiled, oblivious, etc...........  They say people are products of thier environment.  I say people can shape they're own environment.

Meaning it was only in hindsight, in these cases, that you reflected upon the situation as such?

We can always do more. But when do people decide to help themselves? We have all the creature comforts these days (minus the third world) yet we still complain.

I look at my phone while driving on the highway. We are a spoiled species.

So you'd like for things to be closer to good?

"Good" as a way of life is man made. Instincts drive all living creatures. Some lust for power, others succumb to greed. Life is about instant/constant pleasure to most people. We are a jaded society on the brink.

I would love things to be closer to good. I just noticed that good is no more than god with an extra o.

I'll tell you this. The message of Salvation is one that a person must process. Don't attach the message to anything else, including any version of any book. If you attempt to attach it to something else, you will obscure it.

Process your information, independently, and don't allow something that may be bad, attempt to obscure that which is good.
