We've tried the exercise of trying to fit science to religion, why not try the reverse? It might be more fruitful to not take scripture so literally.

It also deals with the question of how it would be possible to have less no. of genes than ancestral relatives, a finding potentially catastrophic to the theory of evolution. Ofcourse if this finding went unexplained, creationists would be all over it.

Evolution is too consistent with all the observable facts to not be true. We can choose to argue that the earth is flat, but it's probably better to move on to more productive things.

yes I agree theories serve a purpose but they get replaced often with better ones, such is the case with evolution, the time will come where it gets replaced and scientist will say we did not have a common ancestor with monkeys.
