I guess all those under 25 people who can't find jobs just dropped out of the work force to paint, have babies and "find themselves while backpacking across Europe".

Dude..the fact is that there is an on-going serious dislocation of young people and all people 55 and under.....lots of it is due to globalization and also robotics taking away jobs...as we modernize we need less workers.....also corporate america doesn't use as many workers as they used to ......they simply make one person do three jobs that used to go to three different workers....many of our jobs are being outsourced to other countries...its that simple...thats not Obama's fault....its a trend thats been on-going and will continue to get bigger....our middle class jobs are going overseas to people who can do it cheaper...simple as that...blame the NAFTA agreement and competition from the Indians and chinese

While true, the decline has been at a steady pace up until this administration has taken over which the rate has increased sharply.  Anyone can see as it was already pointed out in this thread.  The fact is that it's not the sole responsibility of this administration, they've done nothing to steady the decline or attempt to reverse it.  Obama had 2 years of a democratic controlled senate and house and they couldn't even pass a budget.  It just shows the overall incompetency of our government as a whole.

People are not placing the entire fault on Obama, but he and his cronies are to blame for doing nothing to counter the issues we're facing and his policies have only compounded the problem.

UE numbers are total BS these days.  Weird thing to even discuss with all the reinvention of how they obtain the #s and how many aren't even looking anymore.

Just a few more things to consider:  a great article "When it Pays not to Work"  http://www.economics21.org/commentary/when-it-pays-not-work

Quote
"Lawrence Lindsey, president and chief executive officer of The Lindsey Group, estimates that if the labor force participation rate were the same today as it was before the recession began, the unemployment rate would be 11.2 percent, rather than 7.3 percent.

One reason for this continuing trend is the panoply of government benefits, including unemployment insurance, now available up to 73 weeks, depending on the state. On average, unemployed Americans can receive 53 weeks of unemployment insurance, up from 26 weeks before the recession.

Over 8.9 million adults received disability insurance from the Social Security Administration in July 2013, the latest data available.  The number of people receiving benefits is 23 percent higher compared to  five years earlier and 55 percent higher than 2003. Benefits are higher, too.  Recipients get an average of $1,129 monthly, 12 percent more than in 2008 and 35 percent more than in 2003.

Over 47 million Americans receive benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly food stamps), Other elements of the federal safety net include mortgage relief, and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families.  The provision of subsidized health care for those earning below 400 percent of the poverty line under the Affordable Care Act, beginning in 2014, will exacerbate this.

These programs have expanded in two ways. Eligibility has increased, and the programs have become more generous."

I do not think Obama is kicking your ass or anyone else's... Let's be clear... Russia owned him just yesterday... with an assist from John Kerry. Wink

this is a very nutty statement...Russia was desperate to stop the U.S. from giving Syria and Russia by extension, a good old ass-whupping..thats why they put that proposal out there out of desperation

They capitalized on a major blunder making a brilliant political move to make the US put their money where their mouth is.

http://cnsnews.com/news/article/terence-p-jeffrey/23116928-20618000-households-food-stamps-now-outnumber-all-households

http://www.fns.usda.gov/pd/34SNAPmonthly.htm

A record 23,116,928 American households were enrolled in the federal government’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)—AKA food stamps—during the month of June, according to data released this month by the Department of Agriculture.

That outnumbers the 20,618,000 households that the Census Bureau estimated were in the entire Northeastern United States as of the second quarter of 2013.

http://www.census.gov/prod/2013pubs/p60-245.pdf

During the four years that marked President Barack Obama’s first term in office, the real median income of American households dropped by $2,627 and the number of people in poverty increased by approximately 6,667,000, according to data released today by the Census Bureau.

The record total of approximately 46,496,000 people in the United States who are now in poverty, according to the Census Bureau, is more than twice the population of Syria, which, according to the CIA, has 22,457,336 people.

In 2008, the year Obama was elected, real median household income in the United States was $53,644 according to the Census Bureau. In 2012, the last full year of Obama’s first term, median household income was $51,017. Thus, real median household income dropped $2,627—or 4.89 percent—from 2008 to 2012.

In fact, real median household income dropped in every year of Obama's first term. In 2008, when he was elected, it was $53,644. In 2009, the year he was inaugurated, it dropped to 53,285. In 2010, his second year in office, it dropped to $51,892. In 2011, his third year in office, it dropped to $51,100. And, in 2012, his fourth year in office, it dropped to $51,017.

At the same time the number of people living in poverty in the United States increased. In 2008, according to the Census Bureau, there were approximately 39,829,000 people living in poverty in this country. In 2012, there were 46,496,000. That is an increase of approximately 6,667,000—of 16.73 percent—from 2008 to 2012.

where exactly is the blunder?HuhHuhHuh??......we come out of this smelling like roses.....we get rid of Assad's chem weapons......we don't have to spend any money on the military to do so.....we don't have to send troops...we don't get involved in a  civil war where we can't possibly win..and Russia now has to help do some heavy lifting to get this thing solved because Putin's prestige and reputation is on the line...thus he has to have a good outcome on this......which is what the U.S. wanted from Russia all along and they refused to do so.....also...those chem weapons can't be used against us if we have to possibly use troops in the future....plus can't be used against Israel or given to Iran or Hezbollah....a win all around

only the foolish Obama haters would see us losing out in this whole thing

You do understand that the reason the UE rate dropped is over 300,000 stopped looking for work?

Apparently he doesn't.  Even the Obama administration itself acknowledged that fact. Perhaps Da Man should stop spitting into the wind.

Yet, the FED is scared shitless to even lightly taper the QE.  If the economy were recovering, QE should not be needed to continue @ 85 billion a month.  Not only will it continue, it will be increased.
