The FDIC could not even cover 1% of US banks accounts if there was a bank run. That day is coming soon.

There are ways around the 250K insurance for the super rich...CDARS is one way to put up to 50m in multiple accounts but only use one account to access it all. Lottery winners tend to use things like this on the short term before deciding on how to invest. But 50m isn't 123m...

I think FM is an amusing story. Gambling is some fascinating news. Dude wins (or loses) tens of millions of dollars. He probably *about* breaks even. And even if he's behind, most of us don't earn $85 mil a year lol.

The way CDARS works is he will only deal with one institution and one account number and one rate. He certainly won't make any money using CDARS, but it will be insured up to 50m I believe...
