at first glance I thought this watch was a couple hundred bucks... so I searched back for this thread to find the site again, and to my surprise, it's nearly a $1k watch. lol.... eh, nO!... for a G, I can find Omega's and Tag's for the roughly the same price, with higher resale value. i'm disappointed   :-\ lol

They are $700, if you can find one. IMHO, the movement, materials and machining alone are worth the money. I have a few Omegas and they aren't as solid.

For a really nice automatic watch with a fine Swiss movement, I also have one of these:

It's the Marathon GSAR, an actual US issue for SAR teams.

This is a good review: http://www.survivalmonkey.com/threads/marathon-gsar-automatic-watch-review.18869/

It's worth it to get the SS bracelet.

It has the usual 2824 by ETA a very reliable movement, although not so strong as the cheaper 7S of Seiko.
Real tough watches usually do not have the date complication since it makes them more vulnerable.
nice watch nevertheless, I'll consider buying one

Why have a bunch of so-so watches when you could have one stand-out one for the same money?

My Seamaster is my most prized possession  8) (After my METRX protein shaker cup obviously)

I have a TAG Link also, but nothing matches the simplicity of the seamaster.

Compared to the TAG which was almost £2K, the Omega (£3300) is easily DOUBLE the quality. When you pick each one up, even the way the links move shows the engineering that has gone into them.

I'm not highly paid by any means, but I look at these as an investment for myself and my son - better than putting £5K in an account for him to blow at University lol

Agree 100%....plus denying yourself for the sake of amassing numerical wealth defies to point of enjoying it.

Are these things spring driven with escapements and such or are they battery powered with electronics governing the power fed to the gears?

A hand wound watch would be more my style but not for some of the money getting thrown around in this thread.  Anyone using a spring powered watch or are they gone with great-grandad's era?

Why two Seamasters?

One of them is fake.  (They're not both the same style either, one of them is the James Bond limited edition model with the gun barrel dial)

Actually, there are two replicas total in that collection.  Can you guys spot which ones? :)

I can understand a tv, but these overpriced watches are for women.  Especially, the oversized ones now...ridiculous.

I went with the Invicta pro diver in the center bottom instead.  I was dying for the Luminox, but that Invicta was just easier on the wallet for the time being.

But the Luminox definitely has a place in my future when I can splurge!

The omega broad arrow?

Which one is the Omega Broad Arrow?  I don't have an Omega Broad Arrow. lol - think I know which on you are referring to.

The replicas are:

The Omega Seamaster James Bond Limited edition (2nd one on the top left - Funny, cause it actually weighs more than my real Omega Seamaster)

The black Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean (5th one on the top right)
